the Trump transparency train continues
intentionally or not to pull back the
curtain on how the government actually
works between the horrific dood leak and
an EO ordering the declassification of
the Russia Crossfire hurricane
investigation we are getting an
unprecedented look at how the sausage is
actually made plus the world continues
to change at a dizzying pace from
shocking AI advancements that are going
to blow your hair back and robot doctors
being tested on real people to the HHS
defunding code research and Palestinians
marching openly in Gaza protesting
against Hamas the whole world is truly
being renegotiated right before our very
eyes true I am convinced that the world
is spinning faster and faster on its
access but I honestly could not be more
excited despite all the weirdness man
I'm here for it I had to check all my
group chats last night just to make sure
there's no stragglers no secret
reporters in there yikes Yik how do this
even happen uh I mean the easiest thing
in the world is how this happens my
question is how are we not building
things that will run a quick check to
see like uh who's in the chat even my
email will ping me and go hey this
person's not inside your company surely
you can do something where it's like
this is not a is it goov or whatever the
um signifier is that they have you
should be able to load up like these are
the ones that belong in the group chat
these are the ones that or anything else
does not and warn me if I have people in
there that that's crazy crazy town for
those who are playing catchup Jeffrey
Goldberg from the Atlantic was
accidentally added to a group chat that
included heads of state from the dod
telsey Gober from D
dni um JD Vance was in the group as well
as some other high ranking officials
they talked about their plans for the
houthis and how they're going to attack
it the largest battlecry I'm hearing is
that this is classified information they
should have been shared from it I have a
little bit more empathy I feel like
group chats are a little bit difficult
to navigate but this is crazy like at
the highest
level uh who's the guy Michael Waltz
couldn't just do a chat like okay hold
on 19 I got everybody yep cool all right
let me send my first message like right
here's the thing people are some people
are saying that this guy absolutely has
to be fired that is asinine to me so
this is a question of is this guy on
balance doing his job given how easy it
is to put somebody into a chat like this
you absolutely have to to solve this
problem at a technical level if you do
not want people using uh email or a
messaging app like this where an
accident like that can happen then say
you can't use these apps but dude if you
start killing off everybody because they
do something like that which we all know
we have done it is way too easy to do
you could take somebody who is otherwise
very good for the country and I don't
know this guy he might be a total
buffoon you should fire him for being a
buffoon but if this is anything other
than the straw that broke the camel's
back firing him for this is ridiculous
but to pretend that this is not
classified information that is getting
out through negligence uh that would be
a mistake this is a problem you must
find ways to shut this down but if you
think that this is an individual person
is just too dumb to do the job you're
going to end up shooting everybody in
the face this kind of stuff is uh it's
kind of like a hot mic you get into a
position where you just forget that
there's a potential that you're being
recorded you of course want people that
can think through the way that can
always run the checklist but if this guy
is otherwise good for this country and
this is the only mistake to fire
somebody that's political theater uh and
so I know I've heard Dave pornoy call
for um somebody a head to roll that's
political theater and getting beyond
that and saying look either this guy is
or is not good at his job and if he is
good at his job and this is the oneoff
solve this at a technological level
otherwise it's going to keep happening
no matter who you put in that position
position these kind of mistakes will be
made unless you make it impossible at
the level of Technology yeah there's two
things that really have stood out to me
and this is a Pete hegf uh text where
he's literally going time stamp by time
stamp we're going to Lo we're going to
launch the f-18s here this is when the
first strike will happen this is when
the drone strikes will commence these
are tactical plans these are plans that
they wanted to keep secret and encrypted
that is now not only released to the
American public but to the entire world
our allies our enemies everybody has
seen this the second layer of that is JD
Vance's apparent descent for Europe and
okay I guess it's a go but I just hate
bailing out Europe again okay so this is
where we get into this is the part that
uh this absolutely should not have
happened they really need a solution
where at a like logistical level it
can't happen like you can't have people
um added to it that don't belong in that
um you you need to accept this was a big
mistake you cannot afford mistakes like
this you put people's lives at risk but
again given that I think everybody has
found themselves doing this where
somebody ends up on the chain that you
didn't think was on the Chain because it
autocompletes or whatever um that is not
a bad human dumb human bad at their job
that's just it is so near Universal it's
like saying oh that person had a
Freudian slip and they need to be fired
everybody says a thing that they didn't
intend to say uh and so again you've got
to look at I don't know this guy he be
terrible and should be fired for a whole
host of other reasons but firing people
for something like this that we know is
universal is to avoid addressing the
real problem so I'll put that pin in it
address the real problem this is a
problem do not downplay this things that
should not have got out got out okay the
second part of this is for me I love
that we're getting to look inside how
the government actually works and while
again this never should have happened
getting another opportunity to see how
people actually negotiate uh how people
actually think through these problems
what they say when they think that
they're not being
watched if there was a way to give us
this level of transparency without the
secrets I for one want this and I think
in an era where we live in velocity and
volume of information I think it is
going to radically
reshape
um I don't want to be hyperbolic and say
everything but the amount of Our Lives
that are going to be changed by the
level of transparency that we are now
getting from the government I think is
for the better we wanted the people who
voted for him wanted Trump to come in
and stop doing business as usual and I
will say just fighting for the average
American there are so many things that
we do structurally printing money
everybody knows is my hobby horse there
are so many things we do structurally
that are making it impossible for the
average American overtime to do well and
I think we've got to get in there and
change this one of my biggest beefs is
that the architecture of the human mind
makes it such that you are always going
to have an elite group of people that
lead everybody else the way that they
have historically done that is by um
spinning lying um cheating whatever like
doing whatever they need to do in order
to obtain power and then stay in power
My Hope Is that you can make America
moral Again by just having a freakish
amount of transparency so that these
people are are um not unable to say
things privately because for reasons of
National Security you obviously need a
way that you can step out but I think we
should want for that to be as little as
possible and not as much as
possible by way of example think about
the ways that bills are made at this
point where they'll create a thousand
page Bill and they'll give you 72 hours
to go through it nobody's going to be
able to read through a bill understand
it discuss it and decide whether they
want to vote for this or against this uh
they know that they can vote in a
certain way and their constituents are
never going to know what's actually in
the bill that is not the kind of
government that I want if it is true
that the architecture of the human mind
is such that there will always be a
small group of people that leads us I
want as much transparency as humanly
possible uh I understand that there are
limits just as I'm not a free speech
absolutist but I want a whole lot of
free speech I understand you can't be a
transparency absolutist but I want a
whole lot of transparency I want to
understand how these people think and
act so that I know are these the people
that are going to lead us well or is
this a bunch of [ __ ] and they're
just spinning me and this is all garbage
and they're going to take me somewhere
because their motives are invisible to
me and so I only have that surface layer
and so they can bamboozle for years that
uh they're saying one thing to the
public but they're really doing
something else behind the scenes I want
as much transparency as is possible and
still run the country give given the
reality of great power
dynamics I think it's possible I think
we're getting there this is bad though
and a reason I think that the last thing
about this is the Wright was really
adamant about ripping Hillary Clinton
for her emails it does make it kind of
seem like now they're getting caught
with their pants down so to me they just
have to kind of accept accountability
move on as opposed to just saying oh
it's not a big deal oh what did
journalist hack its way in there it was
some conspiracy as opposed to saying my
bad I hit the j instead of the K and I
meant to add Jeffrey this person but I
added Jeffrey that person I feel like
that makes the press conference 3
seconds everybody goes home and just
calls that guy an idiot but instead of
that we're playing this well it's not
really classified information well it
wasn't my mistake it was somebody else's
and we're just we're giving this more
life then it's just like a brain fart a
flub somebody messed up this is the
Kabuki aspect of this Schwarz Ander
talked about this when he was in office
he was like the reason that you can't
get things done is everybody is playing
to an audience they're playing to their
constituents they know that they can
spin a message the reason that people
politicians anybody the reason that
people lie the reason that people spin
the reason that people manipulate is
because it works and I think the only
way to the other side of this is to have
an unprecedented level of transparency
that is finally technologically feasible
again I'm not an absolutist I understand
that there are going to be lines I fully
acknowledge this one never should have
happened uh but now that it has happened
I don't hear people talking
about look at the way that um JD Vance
is talking about Europe what do we think
about that do we think that JD Vance is
right um people aren't talking about uh
hey he was saying like I think that
Trump might be blind to this do we think
Trump is blind to that like the the
moment happened and so now we have this
fruit and everybody's paying attention
to something stupid they're just asking
like how do I leverage this to get uh
the immediate thing that I want which is
to score a point against my opponent
instead of saying okay let's all map
this Administration mentally how are
they approaching the problem jie Vance
has revealed something about the way
that he thinks about the world so first
of all he said that it was 3% of our
trade goes through there uh there was
push back in the group chat where
they're like well you probably can't
look at it that way and I thought it was
a great Point um and so again shouldn't
have happened but now that it did let's
make sure that we're looking at the
right things because and this is like if
you were going to sum my entire world
viw up it would be that none of us can
see the truth clearly but there are
beliefs that when you adopt they give
higher predictive validity so when I
think this way I am more likely to be
able to judge the outcome of my actions
so that leak now gives us a better
ability to understand what's going on
behind the scenes with the
administration which means that we're
going to be able to better understand
how they're going to act when they're in
a negotiation or whatever which gives us
a better understanding whether you're
just being a selfish person trying to
understand how the markets are moving uh
if you want to understand what the
relationship is like with Europe all of
that stuff is there for you to map but
we're not paying attention to that and
if I could really get people to
internalize that ideas have utility
skills have utility that you're playing
the competitive game of life and you
actually can get better at it and the
way that you get better at is with
information that is tested against the
real
world but nobody's engaging with this
moment like that it's this guy should be
fired these guys are idiots like that's
so surface get below that what are we
learning what's here now how to we begin
to build up a mental model of this
Administration well we'll see how they
feel when this breaks out and how it
keeps progressing but another Congress
person said something the quiet part out
loud and that was Jasmine Crockett
yeah who had uh who's under Fire for her
words about her Hot Wheels comment about
uh Governor okay so before you play this
we have to set this up so we saw the
21se second clip like everybody else and
I thought O It's very possible that in
the setup because her response back to
this she she ends up saying uh Hot
Wheels Governor now the Hot Wheels
Governor that she's referring to is in a
wheelchair and so people are like yo
that's pretty rough and then I thought
you know what let's give her the benefit
of the doubt let's back up to the
beginning of the speech Let's watch it
because she said that when I said Hot
Wheels I meant the fact they use Planes
Trains and Automobiles to move
immigrants from one place to another uh
to sweat um cities that have black
Governors or states have black uh sorry
states have black Governors or cities
that have black Mayors I I don't
remember black May okay thank you um and
I thought oh maybe that really is it and
people are just taking out of context
nope there's no additional context so
here is the clip trust me when I say
that there was no buildup to this at
least not in this talk you know a lot of
people see you out front fighting but
nobody's really asking you what do you
need to maintain that fight so thank you
so much Morgan um because we in these
hot ass Texas streets honey um y'all
know we got govern Hot Wheels down there
come on now and and the only thing hot
about him is that he is a hot ass mess
honey so um so yes yes yes yes okay she
doesn't go on to explain anything like
that's the whole context uh to me this
is just funny and if I was I get made
fun of for my ears all the time now
admittedly I'd rather have big ass ears
than be in a wheelchair uh people need
to learn to take a joke this feels like
more political theater for me Trump
calls people the most names
ever ever uh is funny when he does it is
funny when she does it uh yeah I think
people take this kind of stuff too
seriously but I think that her trying to
pull a fast one and say that's not what
I was saying that feels pretty insincere
yeah I feel like she got caught um she
said the quiet part out loud um this
brings me back to when Trump was mocking
a reporter and people laughed at it oh
it's not that serious it's okay so when
it's your team you do mental gymnastics
to make it okay when it's the other team
it's look you're a terrible person and
you should be impeached yeah so I think
this is
100% rule not for thee but for me like
rules for you but not for rules for thee
not rules for thee not for me exactly
100% And if I'm not mistaken uh you
there's also a still frame that you can
do from the speech where she is throwing
the Nazi
salute and that's of course going around
now I mean these days you never know I
didn't go through frame by frame to see
if you can actually find it so it's
entirely oh it's not from the speech but
it's the same woman um that yeah there
it is uh again like if we can please
stop with the political theater that
would be wonderful it is a hand gesture
uh I don't take it any more being a Nazi
salute from her than I do with Elon yeah
and I watch the whole Elon thing it's
super awkward it's
very autistic I'm just going to say uh
but it's very Spectrum did I actually
think that he was trying to convert me
uh to being in the onazi no I most
certainly did not so all of that stuff
is just a [ __ ] distraction man what
are we actually talking about I love
what you said about the signal chat
we're now talking about who should be in
the chat how did it get here instead of
what does this mean about government us
Euro relation what this mean about the
Euro's defense bill this could have been
so many good conversations to have but
instead we're arguing at the headline
level about gestures and comments and
jokes and cool yeah it's silly it's
silly
yeah all right and in Trump news he
Declassified all FBI Files related to
the corrupt Crossfire hurricane
investigation this is the uh Russian and
that's you reading a tweet not
necessarily taking a stance
oh quote unquote J Trump presidential
memorandum for your attention this
memorandum requires the immediate
declassification of all FBI Files
relating to the crossfire hurricane
investigation this was obviously one of
the instances of the weaponization of
law enforcement powers of prosecution
against you and others uh we believe
that it's long P time for the American
people to have a full and complete
understanding of what exactly is in
those files which gives the media the
right to go in and go and check it you
probably won't bother because you're not
going to like what you see uh but uh
this was total weaponization it's a
disgrace should never happen in this
country but now you'll be able to see
for yourselves all
Declassified is that correct you say all
Declassified yes sir everything the uh
the FBI file with a there's a classified
Annex but other than that this will put
everything in the public eyes I like he
was waiting for Applause or something so
he's like that's right all Declassified
right yeah really that's how I read it I
thought that he didn't want to be caught
off guard by saying that this is all
Declassified and then there's like 30
pages of
redactions um but I want where where my
Epstein files is like this is one of
those dude there are photos of our man
with Epstein it is so sus that we're not
getting the epsteam files yeah those are
that that one is uh oh man come on it
was three million Pages people care k
files and that's the other thing like
I'm still weirded out by the fact that
nothing is coming out of the JF k files
so why did they not want to release it
there was a reason man and so again that
reason could just be uh they were all
too lazy they didn't want to read the
files and every time Trump or anybody
else asked about I was like oh God it's
80,000 files there's no AI to do this
reading for me uh so ah something
terrible in it because they just didn't
know it the reason could be that sort of
benign uh but the fact that they for so
long just were like no no no no uh even
with foyer Quest wouldn't give it to
people and then they give it and it's
all like me I don't I don't get it I
want to know what that underlying reason
is the math isn't math but I think at
this point the government's going to
tell you what it wants to tell you after
covid came out you don't feel like it's
different now like it really does feel
to me like Trump
is he's it's very possible he is still
protecting some things obviously but
this does feel like a lot more like
we're getting a lot more insight you
don't think so it was the once the
during Co we had that's when they were
like hey youall want to learn about
aliens here's all the alien information
and we were arguing about vaccines and I
I realized like oh it's not like a lack
of information it's people don't care
about information no more now it's I
think we turned the corner now there
could be a JFK file that releases
tomorrow that says Barack Obama shot him
himself and like the first thing you're
going to say is see Yep this is why aocc
needs to be impeached and the Democrats
need to be dismantled and this it's
going to automatically jump to why 202
Trump needs a third term like this is
why I would much rather live in that
world because it doesn't end up being
the catastrophic dismantling to know
what the truth is especially something
like with um the JFK files where
happened so long ago when I heard the
audio which I still don't know if it's
real but there's audio of a guy whose
name I'm currently blanking on that was
like Lyndon Johnson ordered the
assassination of um JFK it it isn't he
doesn't around it he just says it and
when I heard that I was like oh like
there was no sense of I already believe
that a given human is capable of
Despicable things I already believe that
people in power will literally do
anything and everything they want
they'll um do MK Ultra type [ __ ] they
will douse people with Agent Orange um
we will do bad things to our own people
like humans are going to human and the
reason that I want the transparency is I
want to get to the point where we're
getting the transparency of the moment
that we're in now so that people feel
like yo I've really gota like do this
right so I think about my own life
because I do so much public speaking
every decision that I make I say to
myself I'm at some point gonna be on
stage holding a microphone and I never
tell people they can't ask me anything
I've never once said in a podcast you
can't ask me anything you can ask me any
[ __ ] thing you want I don't think the
only thing I'm ever KY about is I will
tell you the range of my wealth I won't
give you the actual number that's the
only thing where I'm like okay I've got
my song and dance I don't see any
advantage to giving people an exact
number
um beyond that it's like I just assume
somebody somewhere someday is gonna
there's going to be nowhere for me to go
and I'm standing there with a mic and I
better have a [ __ ] reason for why
I've done the thing that I've done now I
don't expect people to agree but in
terms of like I want to earn my own
respect and I know that I live in an era
where I'm just too and I'm like small
time compared to somebody like
that knowing that people could look at
my [ __ ] I live by 50 Cents I try not to
say nothing the da might want to play in
court like that's just a good way to
live your life like don't do and say
things where you're like uh oh I hope
nobody hears this um so yeah like I I
want to see transparency because I think
it will cause people to feel like if
you're looking in the mirror you're
going to think very differently about
yourself it's a very weird thing thing
about um there are studies that have
been done that being able to see your
reflection changes your behaviors and
that sense of I know people are going to
go through everything that I'm doing
would really have me like be like okay I
want to make sure I'm being the person
that I want to be I want to make sure
that I'm honoring my own sense of like
Legacy uh so I think the ability to hide
all this stuff changes people again I
want to I want to make sure people hear
me I'm not saying I'm a trans
transparency absolutist that that is not
the play but this feels right to me
intuitively to want as much as we can
reasonably have and that that has not
been the game historically the game
historically has been Barry Barry Barry
Barry Barry um so that we can do all
this crazy [ __ ] and feel like we're
going to get away with it and now with
social media and cameras everywhere that
that day has just passed and so now
how's that going to change our Behavior
I can see positives to that now of
course I can also see 1984 where uh you
just start thought policing me but in a
world where um I'm so anti-authoritarian
top- down control I want that balance of
with my
politicians I very much want to know how
they think about things we'll get back
to the show in a moment but first let's
talk about protecting your wealth in
these very uncertain times and the truth
is Market volatility can wipe out your
retirement account overnight it's not
speculation it's happened countless
times throughout history this is why so
many Financial experts recommend
diversifying with a scarce sound
physical asset created by exploding
Stars gold it has withstood the test of
time through every economic collapse in
history for those looking to add gold
and silver to their portfolio American
Alternative assets offers a reliable
solution they provide concierge White
Glove customer service for impact Theory
viewers now no one can guarantee
anything but do not wait until after the
market crashes to protect what you've
built bu go to tomg getold.com or call
1888 615 847 today to get started again
that's tomg getold.com or call
hard I'm not going to reward that
TR uh I was just you sent this in the
group chat and I just thought it was
interesting or the spreadsheet and I
just thought it was interesting how they
Studio gibl like memes but it just kind
of opened up the window to me of if I'm
a comic book artist am I excited right
now is this a weird time are we going to
see a thousand picture books tomorrow
like what do you think is the going to
be the second and third order
consequences now that open AI can do
character
consistency AI generated images or at
least kind of can do it okay so to
understand my answer you have to
understand the following character
consistency has been the Holy Grail
people have heard me talk about it many
many times the big let down with AI if
you're an IP studio is that you you can
create a custom character and then you
try to use Ai and you realize oh there's
limits It'll like rough it out like if
you want to um create an AI version of
me you would say short dark hair uh
black glasses big ears um hard jawlines
something like that and and you'll be
like oh I get it from like a character
perspective that's Meant To Be Tom it's
not really me and I'm going to change
from shot to shot with 40 and I have not
played with it enough to find like where
it does break down but when I say for
the first time I gave it 10 training
images on a character from Lisa's comic
that she's building called wish Academy
and I I've used AI extensively I've
spent dozens of hours just trying to
find the prompt with training images
that will allow me to have character
consistency and I'd give it like a a two
or three out of 10 you can tell oh oh I
get it that's a girl with a helmet on
that's meant to be Lexi but it's not
actually her Design This is actually her
design with 10
images this was when it was originally
pitched to me hey Tom have you seen seen
the new thing in 40 and I was like we
already tested it it doesn't work and
then I realized it came out today so I
was like wait a second this actually
isn't the version we tested so I went in
and quickly did it and I was like holy
[ __ ] this is a a Quantum Leap Forward
this is not like a little better this is
with 10 images it nailed our style so
the way that we do line weight uh the
colors that we use nailed that I didn't
prompt it at all I just said this these
t images are of a character named Lexi
now put Lexi in this position and it her
helmet's right her outfit's right it
changes a little bit from shot to shot
but I'm going to say less than 20% I
mean just absolutely unbelievable okay
so with all that that this huge uh
threshold has just been crossed this
huge barrier has just been
crossed if I'm a comic book artist which
nobody unfortunately really cares about
shout out comic book artists you guys
have touched my life uh growing up but
it's done so spending your time learning
how to do that is nonsensical the only
thing you might want to do and even that
probably doesn't make a lot of sense
would be to be able to do it so you can
create an original style that's unique
to only you um but I think at this point
there have been so many styles through
history that you could use recipes like
a little bit of this but with an element
of that and you'll be able to create new
Styles just through that Pastiche uh
anybody that's a film fan that watched
Tarantino come on come into the world
you realized oh he's just ripping off
all these people that came before him
but it's so new the way that he's doing
it I wish I could teleport people back
to like '94 when Pulp Fiction came out
dude it was it I was in film school at
the time it just took the film World by
storm and the fact that it was quote
unquote pasti meaning it was made up of
elements from all these filmmakers that
had come before him it didn't matter it
felt so different and it was so new that
it was just like oh my God like this is
incredible so I think you're going to
see that same thing same is true of
graphic design so 40 remember this is as
bad as it's ever going to be now we're
never going backwards AI is just going
to keep getting better um it it's no
longer just sort of doing this cloud of
patterns to try to give you words where
it like sort of says like what you want
to no it now F you can tell it say
exactly this and it will appear so uh in
wish Academy obviously the school is
known as wish Academy so I said uh Lexi
all I said you have the training images
Lexi stand stand in front of wish
Academy which is an East Coast style all
girls prep school and it just said clear
as day wish academy uh there are people
that have done like um witches trying to
figure out if they can par their
broomsticks and then a whole bunch of
text on what should be on the signs and
that exact text is on the signs it looks
photorealistic so uh people doing movie
posters yeah and remember all this is
going to be integrated into Photoshop so
then you'll also be able to go in and
just like no I want to move it a little
bit I didn't quite mean it like that
that nudge nudge
nudge it it's it's just different and so
the theme of the whole thing today I
played with writing a totally different
style intro to get it a theme rather
than specific things that are
happening is the rate of change in the
world is so fast
that the
world the world is morphing into
something new right now and it's
changing so fast it feels like a morph
where you you can just watch it
happening
um I whatever yesterday the day before
said to you just send me the Photoshop
files because now I'm just like I'm
going to start editing a lot of the
stuff on my own I need to learn Firefly
it's just getting so easy where you
Circle an area and you say no change it
to this change it to that and so anybody
that's saying the AI is not going to
just outright eliminate some jobs reduce
the number of people that are needed to
create something um they're lying either
to themselves or to the public I don't
know which but I'm not saying that it
won't create more jobs that I can't even
predict but those jobs will be so
dramatically different that people
really ought not be
underestimating how different the world
is going to be in five years I think it
is actually unimaginable
as in you will not be able to imagine
what the world would be like in 10 years
um
so the irony of all of this is how this
is playing out in my own psyche and I
was talking to you about it so during
the live Drew made a comment he's like I
still have to work for a living which
obviously I do not take personally I
think it's I get it I get that insight
and I feel the same where I'm like so
much of my life more than 20 years of my
life has been about to to tell the
stories I want to tell it is
unimaginably expensive and there are all
these stories in Hollywood of like these
um oil tycoons they come into Hollywood
they drop $250 million and they walk
away empty-handed because so many things
will miss and that just getting a hold
of the a-level concepts and scripts is
impossible so they're going to get you
to give them the100 million they're
going to give you ishar they're not
going to give you um Marvel M and so I
was like no matter how much money I have
if I try to just money my way into that
system I'm going to lose so this has got
to be about creating a self-sustaining
economic engine and so the whole thing
about okay why did I go into protein
bars because I knew I wanted to control
the art but even when I left that I
didn't just start the studio right away
I started building a new Media Company
because I knew that I needed something
that kicked off money okay so we get
that engine going then we start
developing video games start developing
comics and now I'm like huh if I had had
AI three years ago I could have saved
millions of dollars millions of dollars
so we've spent inordinate amounts of
money on comic books no money in that uh
we've spent inordinate amounts of money
on the video game lots of money in that
but it's hit or miss and so if we can
make the game work then you know we'll
be richly rewarded but Sony launched a
$400 million game called Concord that
nobody has ever heard of because they
shut it down in a
week so
when I look at AI I'm like uh take a
comic book a comic book is probably
going to
touch 8 to 12
people that's now one now you still have
to be able to write because if I don't
have good taste then it's the story is
going to be ass for the most part people
will forgive the art if it's a little
bit shaky if the story's really awesome
for anybody that doesn't know one punch
man it's got a whole great story where
it started as a guy who couldn't draw
but he could write really well uh and so
it still got popular now it got even
more popular once he tied up with an
artist and they went back and redid it
but anyway people love the story and so
it still exploded onto the scene um if
you have taste AI is a tool that propels
you forward and so even I go hm how many
of the things that I'm doing today will
I be doing in three years I don't know
because now when I sit down to work on
like
I feel like a little kid waiting for
Christmas morning because this Saturday
I'm going to be able to sit down and use
40 image creation to see if I can write
coyotes of the air gap right now because
until yesterday I didn't think I could
generate the art so I thought well this
is still if you'd really push me I would
have said this is still three years out
so 24 hours ago I thought this was three
years away now I'm like I might be able
to do it this weekend that's how
transformative that moment was now on
top of that we're gonna be going into um
there are other companies right now
trying to Leap Frog open AI
so I always feel ridiculous when I say a
year from now this is going to be
radically
different it might be a month from now
Drew so it because mid journey is going
to Gear Up Gemini is going to Gear Up
Everybody yeah and so we don't know
what's going on behind the scenes
remember deep seek comes out this is
competition deep seat comes out and AI
goes hold my beer we've got so many
things that we just haven't been
releasing because we wanted to give the
world time to acclimate not anymore and
so we're just going to start releasing
this stuff but also deep seek was this
much more efficient algorithm
everybody's learning from it so people
aren't thinking about deep seek anymore
but I promise you every AI person around
the world worth their salt went in and
learned how they got that much more
efficient when you get that much more
efficient is now available to that many
more
people um and
so
I would ask everybody as somebody who
cares about you and I want to see you
guys Thrive
emotionally everything that I just said
about how rapidly the world's changing
it's all true and that's very scary and
I understand
that stay focused on what does this now
allow me to do that I couldn't do before
and so my first question to you was and
by the way I didn't say this part out
loud with every advancement especially
because you're a creative I know I'm a
step closer to losing you and you're
like well I'm just thinking of it as a
hobby right now and when you said that I
was like yeah now but what about a month
from now when that next thing comes out
what about six months from now that's
nothing dude six months blink and it's
gone but six months in AI time like
there will come a time where over the
weekend you can write that next Easter
Opera and you've got a shot at like it
bangs and now all the previous hurdles
they go away and so in our Dynamic even
though that would end up being bad for
me I'm excited for you and I want partly
because I'm excited for myself right I'm
not now beholden to anybody with um
marry mods is a comic uh sorry not a
comic book is a um IP that we're trying
to turn into an animated film and I
literally had to send people to Berlin
to work with a um a Spanish Animation
studio and go to the Berlin film
festival and beg for money and all that
[ __ ] and I'm like homie I don't give a
[ __ ] what they say because what am I
three years out from just being able to
prompt boom there yep that's exactly the
shot that I want no change it a little
bit like
this that's exciting so people can meet
this moment with fear and most will but
my hope is that the me at 12 years old
who has been on this
insane circuitous journey to become a
Storyteller you can just be line now of
course we could fractal on all the
complications of disaggregates capital
and all that stuff but anyway uh allow
yourself to be excited is there a
similar ramifications you see in other
Industries as well cuz to your point
from a creative standpoint character
consistency can fundamentally break
cartoons anime manga comic
books movies and TV like it can hit six
or seven different Industries and
categories but if I am a executive
assistant in the middle of Iowa
somewhere do I also
see is is this also a moment for me that
I could be like yes I could utilize it
to do ab BC D or e or do you think AI is
still kind of taking it step by step it
it's just happening so fast it yes the
person and iow was going to be able to
do whatever the hell they want all of us
are only going to be limited by our
talent our creativity um and our
willingness to engage with it so the
there's one mystery that looms over me
where I'm like I don't know how that
plays out and that is think about all
the content being put on YouTube and
still it's a very small number of people
that will be able to make a
living that's a part I don't see any way
around um I have a sense of how it's
going to play out you will get the big
companies like a Disney who are my
instinct is they're they are investing
and reinvesting and quintupling down on
the parks because they
know you have to spend your day doing
something and if AI makes IP creation a
thing where anybody can do it it's just
like there's so much coming out people
aren't going to write scripts for us
anymore they're just going to submit
finished movies and so our job is be
like o we like that one we're going to
put our marketing machine behind that
we're going to drive people into the
parks and so now you're going to be able
to have a physical experience and that's
something that AI can't create for you
uh VR will be a thing and that it really
will matter uh but ultimately there are
still going to be things that people
want to do in public and they want to be
around other people and blah blah blah
so um people will begin shifting their
attention to that how many new jobs will
that create what would that look like
don't know that's part of the Event
Horizon if I can't see over it um but it
it's just really really really
incredible this this is tickling the
same neuron for me uh a world where
there are essentially no G Gatekeepers
tickles the same neuron as a world with
Hyper
transparency um is it's a better world
and even though it will change some of
the things that I'm used to um being
able to look at the government and think
oh those those are the best Among Us
they're smarter than me that's all going
to go away cuz we're going to see uh the
way that like when Trump was negotiating
in the white house with zalinsky I
thought universally zalinsky Trump and
Vance all looked like [ __ ] normal
people with foibles that were just all
written right there on their sleeve
um but I still think on balance it ends
up being
better and then I'm not to belor this
point but then we our offline
conversation we talked about the music
industry and that resonated with me a
lot because growing up in the 90s there
was the top 10 videos from the VJs on
MTV the billboard 500 these are the five
best song 500 best songs nowadays people
are discovering music in new ways like
the music industry I think is radically
democratized already in that way and I
think that that could be a good
indicator of AI I was literally joking
with my friend cuz I was telling him
about like you know AI is going to like
create like change distribution he was
like yeah man but like that's like are
people going to even want movies anymore
I'm like well people thought when MTV
came out the radio was going to die and
somehow people are radioing and still
podcasting and audio has still made a
space it's just we're not getting it in
this way so I do think that these new
Industries these industries that are
going to be all layered on top they're
going to mirror the past in a way but I
also feel like there is this excitement
about this new way of consuming media
consuming video games consuming things
that we haven't seen yet and who knows
what that is going to be well can I
scare you to death as the father of a
13-year-old daughter
um here is what I see when I look into
the very uncertain future now I know
what I'm about to say is not going to be
literally correct it won't play out this
way but this is the kind of thing that
will be possible and will influence the
direction even if it doesn't end up
being exactly the
Direction one of the great there's a
great quote about the human experience
that says a pleasure shared is a
pleasure doubled
we like to connect with other people and
part of what I missed from my childhood
is everybody in my school is paying
attention to the same music and that you
really felt like you were a part of
something and there was just this shared
fabric I think the human mind wants that
but people are going to have experiences
in their lives where some percentage of
their friends are
Ai and you'll be able to tell that AI
how you want them to Eng engage with you
and so I will want my AI to be into the
same things that I'm into and I'll say
something like introduce me to 10% new
things but 90% of the things I want you
guys to be as hyped as I am about this
thing and this is part of why I I have
paid for writers rooms before I've had
the most talented writers in the world
come and sit with me and other people in
a room to brainstorm ideas so what I'm
about to say I am I am saying from
having surrounded myself with
extraordinary talented writers
MH I've never had more fun collaborating
with writing than I have collaborating
with
AI I am well aware that part of it is a
form of masturbation because I've
created that thing so I've I've told
that AI to behave in a certain way and
we go with the ideas I love the most
100% of the time MH unlike a writer's
room we have to compromise you have to
keep people motivated you can see that
you're frustrating them got exactly you
give on an idea because they want but it
kind of does like downgrade your love
for the piece a little bit and so with
AI I have somebody that knows the entire
world's
knowledge who I've told how to behave
around me how to challenge my ideas but
be
encouraging um that when I come up with
an idea that I'm legitimately excited
about it will mirror my excitement and
be like oh my God you're right that is
amazing and
so you'll be able to share these
experiences with an
AI but they'll be so attuned to you that
it will be better in some
ways now there are second and third
order consequences which is why I say
this is a scary thing for a parent this
is not like oh I'm soothing your
concerns so you think that hypers
segmented two be greater than the class
all the 12th graders like this music
Collective I think no matter how Niche
your universe is you will have a group
of people that are into it um that are
excited by it that give you all of that
reinforcement that I had as a kid in a
world where everybody was focused on the
same thing gotcha got and so that can
derange obviously of course um but that
gets me excited like I can literally
imagine a time I have lamented many
times
that the only problem with my marriage
is that my wife isn't into anime and so
I don't get to share my love of that
story format with my favorite human and
I people that don't know anime will
assume that like the little Kitty stuff
it's not what I'm talking about anime is
as diverse as Cinema it's like saying
I'm into movies it's just a a very
fascinating form of
Storytelling and I don't get to show
that with my wife very often MH and now
I can around myself with a bunch of bots
that are like yo we love this just as
much as you uh so yeah be careful what
you wish for it is a fascinating moment
we're already seeing people democratize
their time and use AI to go into
interesting new places where one guy on
Twitter showed that in the last month
they made nine game prototypes using
Rock and wind surf everything from a
vampire hunter clone this is like a doom
clone this is like a pizza ingredient
game um this is Like a Block Breaker
thing where you have to match up the
three blocks just for people on audio
they're they seem like video game mini
games oh my God the one in the upper
right is when I think about how long
something like that would take um yeah I
mean that's like
a a week's worth of work for maybe a
little bit more for two or three people
and you've got one guy doing this I'm
going to guess in his spare time as part
of the nine things that he did in a
month it it is absolutely
bananas yeah the the rate of iteration
because so I'm watching that with
jealousy and I'm thinking to myself okay
knowing what I know now about game
design you prototype something like that
it's very simple but you find out if the
core mechanics of your game are good or
not it's shockingly difficult to make
something actually fun and new and you
you're always like walking this line of
wait does this suck because there's no
polish and so I'm not getting the
dopamine feedback that I get from
playing a real video game or is this not
fun because I just have the wrong
mechanic and so being able to do stuff
like that where it's like you've got
enough visual cuteness in this case
where it's like okay this isn't that I'm
so turned off by the visuals or the
movement uh that that's ruining my
ability you'd be able to very quickly
see this either is working or this is
not working MH uh it's just absolutely
astonishing it is a astonishing and look
these are very simple games but this is
just going to keep getting better yeah
this is nuts crazy um and then even in
the real world we got robot doctors now
performing actual analysis this is UC
footage from UCSD Advanced robotic liveb
where a a robot is being used for
analysis and therapy like a physical
robot if you're not looking at this he's
the robot
is holding a stethoscope to the person
that looks like it's doing ultrasound
yeah ultrasound echo cardiogram so
crazy to me this seems like uh was like
a nurse Tech like the the assistant to
before the doctor comes in that does
like your weight and things like that
you know I mean this is I would say more
advanced than that this is somebody uh
checking somebody's abdomen I can't tell
that I think was a fake person um this
is like fake practicing this this is not
on real people but um it's also like
practicing intubating people um again
now it's on Dummies it was the
stethoscope was on a real person I think
the echo cardiogram was on a real person
now it's practicing what looks like a
tracheotomy yep um [ __ ] man this is so
insane this is what you have already
today this is today that's what's
rattling the back of my head this is the
worst it would ever be yeah yeah I
promise you within
I'm going to say within 10 years you'll
say I don't want a human doing it what
are you talking about why do you have a
human don't let a human touch me uh I
need a robot man I need to know that
this is going to be precise I remember
once going to the doctor when I was a
kid and the doctor was probably in his
late 60s early 70s and His Hands Shook
and he went to give me an injection and
it slipped it was in my toe it slipped
out of my toe and he squirted me in the
face with the like whatever the numbing
agent was and me and my dad just looked
at each other like yo what the [ __ ] just
happened happened that was crazy town so
let me tell you I'd rather have the
robot probably not today but woof in the
very near future man in the very near
future God this is gonna get weird Drew
uh I think right now it there's this
like Calm before the storm where the
vast majority of humans just aren't
paying attention to what's happening and
so they you have not yet triggered their
freakout
response it's coming yeah that freakout
response is coming yeah humans are going
to go nuts this really does make me want
to pick back up with neon future the
only problem is I told myself I would
stop telling stories for adults uh so
I'll probably just focus but man it's
bananas we shall see in international
news there was a video of a protest of a
bunch of Palestinians protesting against
Hamas I think this show this like shined
a bright light on the conflict because a
lot of people automatically equate Hamas
with Palestinians and this kind of
protest shows there is descent it's a
group of Palestinians walking around
saying hey hey Hamas are terrorists kind
of in a protesty
champ yeah um this is very encouraging
but I'm always skeptical I don't know
how this is being
spun uh so I don't know how much this
represents I saw it being covered from
multiple angles different people but
it's very easy to uh make a small thing
look big it's easy to make a big thing
look small um get given my take on this
I am certainly optimistic and hopeful
because man I'm just a big believer
you've got to be focused on I want my my
life to be better in real time and I
want my kids's life to be better than my
life when you have that you're at least
pointed in the right direction we're not
all going to agree on what that looks
like but you've got people fighting for
the right thing and uh you just have not
seen that when you've got people blowing
themselves up when you have people that
believe I'm better off martyring myself
uh that we celebrate the martyrs more
than we celebrate the person who's
really trying to build something right
here right now today um that's headed in
a very wrong direction and so I always
wondered like are the Palestinians just
terrified because they rule with an iron
fist like when you see um Iranians
before the Revolution and it looks like
America in the 70s um and then you see
him now and it's you know burka not
exclusively obviously but it's just way
more locked down
um that always makes me sad now that's
my Western sensibility but I wear it
with pride so um it's encouraging to me
to see them saying we don't want
terrorists we don't want you using a
hospital as a shield like we want to
live a normal life seem to be the
translations that people were saying
they're saying um that's really
encouraging there was a comic book
written that I was always Blown Away by
and I don't know he may hate that I'm
about to talk about his comic book CU I
don't know what his political views are
uh but a guy that wrote a comic called
DMZ M and uh it paints a picture of
America in a cold war and sorry America
in a civil war and Manhattan becomes a
DMZ and so that's the one uh and Brian
Wood is the guy's name this is one of my
all-time favorite Western
Comics there's something about DMZ that
reminds me of Gaza and the sense of it
being stuck in time because it's just
constantly in the middle of a war that's
going on whether the war is between uh
Israel the US and Iran doesn't matter
but they're they're just caught I
imagine the average person is just
caught and they just can't get that
forward momentum and so seeing them
marching and saying we just want to live
a normal life uh I mean obviously
pulling out of cultural downward spirals
is very very difficult uh but seeing
them step into the 21st century seeing
them build a thriving economy would be
the most awesome thing in the world I'm
now stepping into paana territory so
I'll stop but that my hope is that
that's what's happening with these
protests yeah I agree and this is on the
backs of the ceasefire um falling apart
on 18th of March since then there's been
hundreds of Palestinians have killed
thousands is more displaced so I'm with
you I just I'm glad that the people are
standing up and they're no longer being
dictated by narratives and stuff like
that and they're actually marching to
the streets wanting a better life we'll
see I'm fully aware that I could be
being spun on this right now um but by
way of thought exercise I really hope
that they can get some economic energy
going
um yeah that they can get out from under
a theocracy yada Y in crypto news
GameStop has made a bit Bitcoin
announcement to shake up their portfolio
they have said that they're going to be
closing stores in 2025 but one thing
they are doing is adding Bitcoin as a
treasury Reserve asset for their board
so that was fully approved and is going
to be implemented later on this
year okay sure I think the reality of
GameStop is that they are desperate this
is only alive now because of the way
that it became memeified I think Gamers
wanted to stay alive out of algia or
whatever but the reality is the vast
majority of games are downloaded it's a
DLC that's it it's like this is done
this is a bygone era uh and trying to
put Bitcoin on your treasury as a way to
basically entirely pivot your company
it's better than doing nothing I guess
but this is definitely grasping at
straws this doesn't I mean this is very
much the same idea behind what sailor
didor was like our company isn't
necessarily growing anymore and we
certainly don't have the respect of the
street uh so we have to do something
but sailor is like a mathematical genius
I mean what what he has done in terms of
pulling the entire gambling apparatus of
the stock market onto Bitcoin via
strategies formerly known as micro
strategies that strikes me as the one
company gets to do that to that effect
and GameStops only hope is that okay
well if we catch a run in the near
future then uh we could what sell off
some of it to keep from having to fire
people is I'm just not sure what the
play is like if the if the storefronts
become like a completely random like
we're GameStop in the front but we're
actually a crypto treasury in the back
it's like what is happening so I'm not
even sure how they plan to continue to
generate Revenue so I don't that just
feels like at some point boys and girls
we got got to wrap it up give their
shareholders their money back call it a
day sell to some I don't even know if
they could do that so I don't know all
right last but not least Avengers
announced their cast today I have a very
simple question are you going to go see
doomsday and or do you care I won't see
it in the theaters I care deeply about
um this entertainment aimed at they're
not to me this isn't full four quadrant
this is more Fathers and Sons uh not
exclusively obviously but I have to
believe that that's like the core
demographic of the Marvel Universe uh so
I love that because we make content for
that same demo um and just this is I
grew up on the comics of this stuff so
for me I am far less invested in the
Marvel Universe than I used to be uh but
I definitely still pay attention so um
when it comes out I will certainly
stream it but uh the odds of me going to
the theater are effectively zero and
keeping the
the urgency and the excitement around
this is very very difficult so I don't
fault them for that and I have to say in
terms of the fact that I think it's gone
way way way down in popularity from
where it was uh call it Circa endgame
but uh what What's his name what is his
name Kevin feige what Kevin feige has
done is one of the most
extraordinary um achievements in cinema
full stop it it's it's unbelievable what
that is so hard to do and if you want to
know just how hard it is compare it to
DC they've been unable to do it and as
much love as I have for James gun he's
not going to be able to pull off what
they did first of all I think that
moment is sort of passed yeah and so it
just all feels a little like yeah been
there done that
um but this this what they've done they
bought Marvel for a billion and between
Parks assets licensing toys they had to
at least cross a 100 billion so I don't
know what the number is but it's from a
capital perspective yeah you you brought
it for a penny and now you have a $100
bill in your pocket it's a from a
business move that is good they did
something similar with Star Wars but I
would say I would argue Marvel had a
bigger run and I feel like the Star Wars
audience is like a little weird right
now sure for sure uh they just did a
better job with the Marvel stuff than
they did with Star Wars Star Wars became
much more it got caught up in the woke
stuff and just to anybody out there
telling a story uh male or female
character doesn't matter they have to
work really hard to earn their spot and
if they don't work hard to earn the spot
then the audience isn't going to enjoy
it to the same degree because we have
all found that life is very difficult
the whole thing with the Superman story
is you have to find some way to make him
struggle uh and so that I mean just
watch any Superman movie that they are
always trying to do that they're trying
to find the way to stack the odds
against him uh and so in Star Wars it
just came too easily for um the female
character Ray so yeah um in fact there's
uh when people were saying oh this all
misogynistic not true look at like you
want to know who does tough women well
Drew Taylor Sheridan there you go baby
we did not practice that that is the
exact thing I was thinking of I said to
Lisa I was like yo the uh in season two
of lioness the main woman that they have
I was like she gives me um alien Vibes
Sigourney Weaver an alien like she's got
that physique the first one that they
had I might I can't remember which one
of them has cuz what Taylor Sheridan is
doing very well in lioness is they make
her both look feminine and sexual and
then they'll flip it and make her just
look tough and badass based on like how
she's dressed and all that what they
what um sequences they show her in and
I'm like dude for my money that's the
way to do it to show a woman that's
versatile like that because I think
about this with Lisa part of what makes
Lisa so interesting to me is she can be
very feminine or she can be tough and
badass and it if she was only one or the
other it be far less interesting and so
that's what I've always liked about
Sigourney Weaver you get soury Weaver in
like that you see the bottom of her
breast as the shirt like barely covers
it and I'm just like yeah I'm here for
that but then she [ __ ] arms up and
like kills everything in her path Lisa
prefers Linda Hamilton I've always been
like I like her I love the Terminator
series but she's a little more
one-dimensional for me she didn't have
like also the ability to be feminine and
so or certainly as feminine as soury
Weaver so anyway one man's take but uh
that would be my advice Zario was
another example of just making her
badass sensitive and even in sexual
situations without fan service like she
wasn't in a braw there wasn't like a
titty slip like it was just a natural
wayte but yeah he does a great job
writing women man fory for schy cool
that's all I got Man Taylor Sheridan all
right everybody if you haven't already
be sure to subscribe and until next time
my friends be legendary take care peace
here is the brutal truth about scaling
most entrepreneurs don't outright fail
they plateau and if you're stuck right
now you know how true that is it could
be that your Revenue flat lines every
time you step away or maybe you're
trapped in a commodity Market that's
racing to the bottom or maybe you're one
of the lucky people who is navigating a
very complex partner Dynamic that turns
every decision into a battle these
problems and a whole lot more can seem
impossible until you break them all down
into first principles my partners and I
used this thinking to grow Quest
Nutrition By
57,000 % in our first 3 years alone and
scaled to a billion doll exit and now
I'm teaching this framework to a select
group of entrepreneurs who are ready to
scale now I want to be clear this is not
for everybody because I'm looking to
work with serious entrepreneurs that
already have an established business and
a proven track record of execution if
that's you and you want to learn how to
break through your biggest business
bottlenecks using first principles
