Day times are shorter and we typically
have less exposure to
sunlight most people will need between 1
to 2 hours more sleep to feel refreshed
in those winter

whole sleep wake cycle

in the winter we tend to exercise less
because we're spending more time indoors
we also tend to socialize less so we
tend to feel a little bit gloomier but
we still are able to enjoy our life and
go about our normal daily

routine Seasonal effective disorder is a
type of depression that comes and goes
with the seasons people typically notice
that in the late fall early winter their
mood will feel depressed they'll feel
sad we don't know what causes it but the
hypothesis is that there is a shift in
the Circadian

rhythm that's what leads to the
depressive symptoms
a device called a light therapy box that
emits a fluorescent white light s to
mimic the bright sunlight that's missing
in winter time your doctor might also
recommend that you speak to a
[Music]
therapist and then depending on the
severity of your symptoms your doctor
might also prescribe an anti
[Music]
depressant getting up at the same time
every day and going to sleep at the same
time every night is really important
often just simple lifestyle changes can
really really help
