um both my parents are Engineers so what
triggered my interest in mathematics and
and physics and Science in general uh
was mostly them pushing me to study that
right I mean parents are very subtle but
they really do get their way I wanted
problems that were more abstract more
weird more out there more on the edge of
Science and um and so I started looking
into different fields of physics itself
and and I thought the astrophysics
just just was filled with interesting
problems so that's why I ended up sort
of gravitating towards that
side in the simplest words we look at
different parts of the sky I'm trying to
work out what's going on at
different in different positions and
different uh places in the

universe uh now the question that I do
get repeated um often is how does what
you do relate to my life you know or to
everybody's life and that's a fair
enough question it's just a tricky
question to answer uh straight away
because it's it's complex I mean just
taking it down to education we we need
people to go into Sciences into the
Sciences right and and astronomy and
astrophysics are like a Gateway Science
because they're just beautiful and they
piak your curiosity like this so you're
going to get kids to actually start
looking into the Sciences just because
this so this beautiful picture of a
beautiful
galaxy I think it's crucial to have a
society such as the national uh Hispanic
physicist Society uh
because because of many different things
networking is critical in every in every
side of life right so we need to uh meet
our peers and interact with them it's
very very important for a very Junior
person of Hispanic descent to understand
that they're not they don't have a very
uh low ceiling uh on top of them that
they get to um basically any position
that they work their way
[Music]
towards in terms of the community and
how how important it is for the
community I think it's it's it's crucial
that they they have a feeling for what's
going on at the you know Forefront of
science at the Forefront of research
that they don't feel that this is
something that very special people do
that they feel feel that it's something
that they can you know grab a little bit
of it and understand it and find it
interesting and find it curious um
because I think curiosity is the key to
the science to The Sciences moving
forward and and and you know peing
people's curiosity it doesn't only
impact them at the time and how curious
they are but it will impact the entire
Community around them
