Surely Paradise as explained by Al Imam Ibn Qayyim rahimahullahu ta'ala is something good and pure And none can enter except those who are clean and good who cannot be infected with any sin We know that in life, human can be good but marred with sins sometimes covered with shirk Sometimes with bidah Sometimes with the sin between him and Allah SWT Sometimes one harms others Those who enter Paradise are those who are clean from sins forgiven by Allah SWT And Allah mentioned about these good people The ones whom the angels take in death, [being] good and pure; [the angels] will say "Peace be upon you.” Enter Paradise for what you used to do. But those who feared their Lord will be driven to Paradise in groups until when they reach it while its gates have been opened and its keepers say, "Peace be upon you; you have become pure فَادْخُلُوهَا so enter it Therefore, when one is covered with sins, he cannot enter Paradise There are things that can remove this sins to be able to enter Paradise First, is by repenting to Allah SWT If one repents to Allah SWT, the Apostle ﷺ said التائب من الذنب كمن لا ذنب له The one who repents from sin is like one who did not sin He just need to meet the requirements of repentance First, he leaves the sin he committed Second, he regrets the sin he committed Third, he is willing to not commit it again If he repents and meets these requirements Allah will accept his repentance And he will be pure from these sins It is beautiful when one is blessed with repentance before he dies by Allah His sins will be forgiven by Allah SWT Second, among things that can remove his sins is by seeking forgiveness from Allah SWT One shall keep on seeking forgiveness from Allah SWT The Apostle ﷺ said Glad tidings to those who find a lot of seeking forgiveness in the record of their deeds Because by seeking forgiveness, one's sins will be forgiven by Allah SWT One shall seek forgiveness as often as he can wherever he is He shall seek forgiveness whenever he can The more he seeks forgiveness, the more he will be saved on the Day of Judgement Because the more sins will be removed from his soul lost before Allah SWT Third, among things that can remove his sins is by doing ahsanaatul maahiyat that is by often doing good deeds These good deeds can remove his sins away Allah SWT said And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds Therefore, one shall often pray in congregation This will be a big cause to remove his sins away They Apostle ﷺ said to a Companion Fear Allah wherever you are do good deeds after doing bad ones the former will wipe out the latter Thus, after one commits a sin, he shall immediately do good deeds Hopefully the good deeds he does after committing a sin will remove away his misdeed When one sees unlawful things see a woman whom he’s not allowed to see whether directly, or through a mobile or television he shall repent immediately, remember Allah’s words read the Quran Hopefully all these can remove the sin of his sight And do a lot of good deeds The Apostle ﷺ said Umrah is an expiation for the sins committed between it & the previous 'Umrah The five daily (prescribed) Salat, the fasting of Ramadan to the next Ramadan Friday (prayer) to the next Friday (prayer) is expiation of the sins committed in between them so long as major sins are avoided Thus, one shall strive to do a lot of good deeds Do not forget to do morning and evening dzikir Don't forget the fively daily prescribed Salat in the mosque Do not forget to do Dhuha prayer, to do good to your parents Do not forget to read the Quran Hopefully, all of those can remove away the sins from him The forth thing that can remove one’s sins is to suffering, the testing one faces The Apostle ﷺ said مَا يُصِيبُ الْمُسْلِمَ مِنْ نَصَبٍ وَلاَ وَصَبٍ وَلاَ هَمٍّ وَلاَ حَزَن وَلاَ غمٍّ، ولا أذى حتى الشوكة يشاكها إلا كفر الله بها من خطاياه No fatigue, nor disease nor sorrow, nor sadness nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that The Apostle ﷺ said لَا تَسُبِّي الْحُمَّى Don't curse fever فَإِنَّهَا تُذْهِبُ خَطَايَا بَنِي آدَمَ كَمَا يُذْهِبُ الْكِيرُ خَبَثَ الْحَدِيد for fever expiates the sin of the children of Adam just as furnace removes the alloy of iron So, when one has a calamity, he shall be patient For his calamity expiate his sins, one shall be patient And if he is not patient, this calamity is a punishment for him Because among the lessons from Allah SWT For some Muslims, they get ill before they die Their illness might remove his sins And some suffer from the agony of death to remove his sins or elevate his level Even the Apostle ﷺ had the agony of death and suffered from illness from Allah SWT At the end of his life, the Apostle ﷺ had a very high fever that when a Companion touched the Apostle's blanket his blanket felt very hot His high temperature went through his blanket The Companion said, يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ لَتُوعَكُ وَعْكًا شَدِيدًا You have a high fever The Apostle ﷺ said I comparatively have a more severe fever than any one of you Is there a double reward for you? The Apostle ﷺ said, Yes, it is so And the Apostle ﷺ went through the agony of death The Apostle ﷺ said Death has its agonies And it may remove the sins away or elevate a believer’s level These are the four things that a believer may go through that his sins can be removed away While for one who has died There are other things that can remove his sins One is a prayer from other believers especially a righteous child The Apostle ﷺ said When a man dies all his good deeds come to an end except three وَوَلَدٍ صَالِحٍ يَدْعُو لَهُ a righteous son who prays for him In general, whoever prays for a believer, it will be beneficial But the Apostle mentioned specifically a righteous son Because he will be the one who continuously pray for his parents Thus, we are recommended to do a funeral prayer To pray for the deceased The Apostle ﷺ said Whenever a Muslim dies and forty men stand for his janazah prayer All of them not joining anything with Allah in worship إِلَّا شَفَّعَهُمْ اللَّهُ فِيهِ 40 men stand for his janazah prayer All of them do not believe in shaman, do not have any lucky charm Not joining anything with Allah in worship They understand the tauhid and these 40 do his janazah prayer Except that Allah grants them intercession for him Thus, we are also recommended to visit graves to pray for the dwellers of the grave The Apostle ﷺ said فَزُوْرُوْ الْقُبُوْرِ Visite the graves The Apostle taught us the invocation to say when visiting a grave May you be safe, O inmates of the abodes of the believers and the Muslims and if Allah pleases, we shall follow you نسأل الله لنا ولكم العافية we pray to Allah for well-being for ourselves and for you Among things that can remove away sins when one dies is charitable deeds from others on his behalf for example other give charity on behalf of his name The scholars agree that when one gives charity he does it on behalf of the deceased the reward of this charity will reach the deceased The same goes with haj and umra The scholars agree, whosoever goes to pilgrimage haj and umrah on his behalf It will reach the deceased أقول قولي هذا واستغفر الله لي ولكم ولسائر المسلمينمن كل ذنب وخطيئة فأستغفره إنه هو الغفور الرحيم الحمد لله على إحسانه، والشكر له على توفيقه وامتنانه وأشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له تعظيما لشأنه وأشهد أن محمدا عبده ورسوله الداعي إلى رضوانه أللهم صلي عليه وعل أله وأصحابه وإخوانه Among things that can purify a person from his sins are the difficulties one is facing after he dies Among others, the stress he suffers in the grave Aisha ra said The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said Verily, there is pressure in the grave If there is one who is safe from it, it would beSa'ad bin Mu'adz The Apostle ﷺ said about Sa’ad ibn Mu'adz, who died bravely at the Khandak Battle The Throne (of Allah) shook at the death of Sa'ad bin Mu`adh He was a very righteous man,a dweller of Paradise He, himself, is not safe from pressure of grave He’s pressed and released by Allah SWT The scholars said that this pressure is not a punishment Just like the agony of death is not a punishment But a suffering experienced by one Just like in the world when one is sad, weary, ill one will suffer from pressure that can remove his sins or elevate his level Also, in the field of Gathering during a horrible condition with no cloth, no shoes under the sun of which distance is only one mile with an extreme heat This difficulty will reduce one’s sins as explained by the scholars Some of them will pass through sirat On top of the sirat, turn into shreds From sharp materials on top of the sirat The Apostle ﷺ said There are three kinds of people who will cross the bridge First, نَاجٍ مُسَلَّمٌ those will not be injured at all Beside the bridge there will be hooks Hooks that will entangle the people according to their deads The second one, the Apostle ﷺ said, مَخْدُوشٌ who will fall and stay in Hell forever The third Those who have sins But whose sins do not make them enter Hell Those sins will be cleansed with a few punishment on the bridge The Apostle ﷺ called the third يُُخَرْدَلُ ثُمَّ يَنْجُو Those who are torn into small peaces entangled on the bridge But will be safe and go to the Paradise The pieces hitting their body will reduce their sins This is among the greatness of the judgment day who can cleanse one’s sins The ninth The one that can remove one’s sins is intercessor People who give intercessor Therefore, the non-believers They will not receive any intercessor Allah SWT said, they will say in the judgment day They said, in the world When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. We worship Allah and you we were indeed in manifest error And no one misguided us except the criminals. And they say فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَٰفِعِينَ So now we have no intercessors And not a devoted friend. The scholars said that this is an argument that Believers can give intercessor to others A friend can give intercessor to his friend who believe in Allah SWT And there is also intercessor from the Apostles, from the angels These intercessors can remove their sins from their soul The ninth cause that can remove one's sins is Allah SWT's blessing so long it is not associating Allah with others So it may still be forgiven by Allah SWT Allah said Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills One may be full of sins on the Day of Judgment But his sins are not the sin of associating Allah with others If Allah wills, Allah will forgive him No need for intercessors or other things Allah will forgive him with Allah SWT's blessing Therefore, some may be granted with blessing from Allah some are not If these 10 causes cannot remove one's sins and he misses these 10 causes he shall be purified cleansed in the Hell-Fire He shall be put in the Hell-Fire Tortured in the Hell Fire to be cleansed from his sin Depending on the sins he committed Depending on the quality of the sins he committed He may be cleansed in the Hell Fire in a blink of an eye And he may get out and enter Paradise It may be for a year, 10 years, thousand years Depending on the sins he committed Then, after he is cleansed in the Hell Fire a believer, as long as he does not associate Allah with other things will enter Paradise We hope that Allah SWT forgive our sins And we hope that Allah SWT put us in His Paradise
