Shaykh Al Islam bin Tayyimiyah said
أن يشهد ذنوبه
وأن االله إنما سلطهم عليه بذنبه ،
The he shall attest to his sins
he knows that Allah has only allowed them
control over him
due to his sins
Why is he being wronged?
Because there is a sin he committed
Allah said
وَمَا أَصَابَكُمْ مِنْ مُصِيبَةٍ فَبِمَا
كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَيَعْفُو عَنْ كَثِيرٍ
And whatever misfortune befalls you
it is because of
what your hands have earned
and Allah pardons much
فإذا شهد العبد أن جميع ما
يناله من المكروه فسببه ذنوبه
اشتغل بالتوبة والاستغفار
من الذنوب التي سلطهم عليه
بسببها ،
عن ذمهم ولومهم والوقيعة فيهم
Thus, when the slave attests that
that everything which reaches him
from dislikeable things
censure, blame and slander that befall him
is caused by his sins
he will remember his sins
and busies himself seeking forgiveness
with repentance
So when you expreience misfortune,
blame yourself first
And he seeks forgiveness
and repents to Allah
If he busies himself seeking forgiveness
and repentance, he will forget
cursing the person who wrongdoes hihm
Because he is busy improving himself
If he can improve himself,
the misfortune will be removed
وإذا رأيت العبد يقع في الناس
إذا آذوه ، ولا يرجع إلى
نفسه باللوم والاستغفار
فاعلم أن مصيبته مصيبة حقيقية
When you see a slave
affected by people
when they harm him
but he does not reproach himself
and seek forgiveness
and he curses the person
who wrongdid him
then know, that his calamity
is truly a great one
But if he seeks forgiveness,
and repents, it is not a real calamity
The nature of it is a bleassing
Because he returns to Allah
and repents to Allah
Misfortune and other people's wrongdoing
to him is a way to worship Allah
It means that the calamity
is not the real one
For him it is a blassing
But when someone be-fall you
he does not seek forgiveness
nor that he repents to Qllqh
instead, he's busy cursing them
Know, that his calamity
is truly a great one
Narrated from Ali bin Abi Talib
ما نزل بلاءٌ إلا بذنب ، ولا رفع إلا بتوبة
No calamity befalls a person
except due to sin
and it is not lifted
except by repentance
