What Allah means in this verse,
رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ
... is that , الله المالك المتصرف
في المشارق و المغرب
It is Allah who arranges everything
in the East and in the West.
Nothing happens in the East and
in the West except that Allah governs it.
الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُ
There is no one who has the right
to be worshiped except Allah.
Allah governs everything
that exists in this universe.
When you know that only Allah is the One
who governs everything in this universe ...
... then you will not worship
anything but Allah.
And if you don't worship
except for Allah ...
... then rely only on Allah SWT.
Allah specializes tawakkal because it is
a very noble form of worship.
A very noble form of worship.
To the extent that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ
mentioned about ...
... 70.000 people who enter Paradise
without punishment and without reckoning...
... their main characteristic is
resignation.
The prophet was asked
about these 70000 people ...
... enter Paradise without punishment
nor reckoning.
هُمْ الَّذِينَ لَا يَسْتَرْقُونَ
وَلَا يَكْتَوُونَ
وَلَا يَتَطَيَّرُونَ
وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ
They would be those
who neither practise charm ...
… nor do they cauterise
...
… nor do they associate bad luck
with what is seen, what is heard.
وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ
They repose their trust in their Lord.
The scholars said, the fourth quality...
... they put their trust in their Lord,
combines the first three qualities.
No charm practice
no cauterise ...
No omens ...
It is all because they put their trust
highly to Allah.
In this verse, Allah puts in particular
a noble form of worship, that is ...
فَاتَّخِذۡهُ وَكِيۡلًا
Rely only on Allah SWT.
As Allah SWT said ...
فعبده و توكل عليه
at the end of Surah Huud.
Allah said, فعبده
Worship only Allah.
And Allah put tawakkal in particular.
و توكل عليه
And rely only on Allah.
When we rely only on Allah, we become calm.
Thus, in our invocation, in the morning
and afternoon ...
يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّوْمُ
بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيْثُ
وَلاَ تَكِلْنِيْ إِلَى نَفْسِيْ
طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ أَبَدًا
Do not make myself rely on me
even if it is only for a blink of an eye.
When we put our trust in ourselves ...
When we put our trust in the world ...
When do we put our trust in humans ...
We make our handle very fragile.
If you want to have a strong grip ...
… rely only on Allah SWT.
All the world is just a cause.
But first, our heart shall rely
on Allah SWT.
Even the scholars said ...
When we worship, we shall rely on Allah.
Because you are not necessarily
able to concentrate.
You rely on your knowledge,
on your nature ...
... to concentrate, you may not be able to.
But you put your trust in Allah.
"O God, I am concentrating myself."
So Allah says:
وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى الْحَيِّ
الَّذِي لَا يَمُوت
واتقوا الله
Put rely upon Allah who does not die.
Who sees you.
About the prayer.
When you pray.
When you prostrate with people prostrate.
Tawakkal is not just a matter of the world.
In worship, we also put our trust.
In doing pilgrimage, we put our trust.
In prayer and fasting, we put our trust.
It is a special form of worship.
Thus it is mentioned in particular.
اياك نعبد واياك نستعين
"O Allah, only to You we worship."
"Only to You we ask for help."
It means only to You
we put our trust.
