Prayers and greetings are always poured out on our lord Prophet Muhammad sallallahu aih alaihi wa sallam and also to his family and friends without exception. We will discuss this occasion One of the stories of the prophets, namely the story of Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam. We are told to follow their instructions. With the instructions of the prophets, follow. Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said And Allah does not tell the stories of previous people, unless there are lessons that we can take. Tell stories so they can think. Really in their stories, there are lessons for intelligent people. (Yusuf 12:111) And these stories are not مَا كَانَ حَدِيثًا يُفْتَرَىٰ not a fiction, not a fictitious story, but the story that Allah mentioned is a true story. We will talk about a very noble prophet. Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam which Allah sent to his people in Madyan. Nabi Syuaib 'Alaihissalam is one of the four Arabic prophets. Arabic prophet is only four people, the first is Prophet Hud, the second is Prophet Sholih, the third is the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam, and the fourth is our Prophet Prophet Muhammad sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam Therefore, the stories of Arab-speaking prophets do not mentioned in the Old Testament or in the New Testament. None in Torah or in the Gospel, which we have today. Of course, we know that the Scriptures, the Gospels and the Torah have changed. Have experienced deviations, so some of the stories of the prophets are not in the book (missing). In the holy book -they still consider it a holy book, but full of deviations. Among the prophets who did not exist in the Torah or the existing Gospels are Arab prophets. Hud isn't there, Sholih isn't there, Syuaib isn't there. Some people think that the man who met the Prophet Moses' Alaihissalam, which he later married his daughter in Madyan, he is the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam. But this is refuted by the scholars, because the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam which Allah tells in the Qur'an, lived long before the Prophet Moses, long before the Prophet Moses' Alaihissalam. Well, the man which met the Prophet Moses, which Allah mentioned in the Qur'an When the Prophet Moses fled from Egypt to Madyan, then he met a pious man, it was thought to be the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam Because both places are called Madyan. the man who met the Prophet Musa 'Alaihissalam, it was mentioned in the Old Testament, in the Book of Exodus. Called Jethro. They call his name Jethro. If you are looking for it in the gospel, there will be, Jethro. Well, that is not the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam because the times are different, the story is also different. As for the story of Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam that I will tell you, it's not mentioned anywhere in the Scriptures or the Torah. because it was already a deviation so there were indeed no Arab prophets. Therefore they often alleged that Muhammad was only copying from the Torah and the Gospel. We say the rebuttal is very much. How come he copied? The Prophet Muhammad could not read and could not write. The Prophet sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam had never studied with the priest. The stories in the Torah & the Gospel compared to the Qur'an have many differences about the prophets as we have explained. The prophets mentioned in the Torah & the Gospel are prophets who are drunk, there is a prophet who commits adultery, there is a prophet who says to worship idols There are no such prophets in the Qur'an. Then also many of the stories mentioned in the Qur'an, are not found in the gospel. Among them the story of the Prophet Moses in detail is not found in the Gospels, the story of the Prophet Joseph in detail is not found in the Gospel. Likewise there are no prophets who are not at all in the gospel, Prophet Hud, Prophet Sholih, Prophet Syuaib, moreover the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. Right. So I will tell you about the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam. Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam referred to by ibn Kathir in his interpretation also in his book Qoshosho Al-Anbiya Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam lived in an area called Muan. Muan is an area in Atrof Syam. That is at the end of the land of Syam, which leads to the Hijaz region. We know Medina, if it goes north to Tabuk, that's where the Syam area is. After Tabuk then Syam. And we know that many of the Children of Israel lived in the land of Syam. Muan located in the end of the Syam area, before entering the Hijaz area. The name is Muan. but it was called Madyan because the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam's ancestry line returned to Madyan. His ancestry line is returned to Madyan. So it was called the Madyan tribe. The Madyan tribe. Many places have names but because it is dominated by a particular tribe, the place is called as the tribe's name. The place is better known as the tribe's name. For example, Muan. Muan is a name of a place, but because the occupants were Madyans, the area was better known as the Madyan area. Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam, in time, he was after the Prophet Lut' Alaihissalam. So in the Qur'an in the Surah of Hud, said Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam to his people And indeed the people of Lut are not far from you O my people. Which means the era of the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam was after the time of the Prophet Lut' Alaihissalam. But who is Syuaib? Ibn Kathir mentions several opinions, some say Syuaib is a descendant of Prophet Ibrahim 'Alaihissalam, There are those who say the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam is not a descendant of Prophet Ibrahim, but he lived with Ibrahim, then when the Prophet Ibrahim was expelled by his people, he also stand with Ibrahim. In essence, said Ibnu Kathir, all of these opinions need to be reviewed. Nothing is clear. But clearly, Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam a noble Prophet. Whether he is a descendant of Prophet Ibrahim, or the descendants of another Prophet is not a problem, what matters is that he is a noble Prophet. In the order of time, he was after the Prophet Lut. Therefore if we read, For example, in Surah Al-A'raf, Hud, it is always mentioned after the story of Prophet Lut. Always mentioned after the story of Prophet Lut. Prophet Hud is first, then Prophet Sholih, then Ibrahim then Lut, then Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam. So indeed he was a bit later after the Prophet Lut 'Alaihissalam. And the words of the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam to his people which Allah mentioned in the Qur'an And not the people of Lut far from you O my people. This was interpreted by the scholars, what was close between the people of Luth and the Syuaib? Some say, the closest is the era, namely the time of the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam not far after the time of Prophet Lut. After the prophet Lut was destroyed by Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, not long after the Prophet's preaching appeared Syuaib 'Alaihissalam to his people. So that the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam reminded, O my people, why are you disbelieving? Don't you know about the story of the people of Lut who were destroyed by Allah? This is an opinion. Some say what they mean, that means from place. Because the people of the Prophet Lut were also in Syam, in an area called Sodom. so people who do the actions of the people of the Prophet Lut are called sodomy. While the Syuaib are also in the land of Syam. So it's not far away. The third opinion, that the people of Lut are not far from you O my people (the madyan) meaning of behavior. As if the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam said "Beware of you O my people." Your behavior is not much different from the behavior of the people of Prophet Lut. What side? Not from the homosexual side, but the people of the Prophet Lut, besides those homosexuals, they like to disturb people on the street, they seized people's property on the road, and that was also done by the people of the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam. They are robbers. There are people passing by being detained, taken away from their property, reprimanded. Mentioned by mufasirun, the people of the Prophet Syuaib did not take as how the people of the Prophet Lut took. They only take taxes. So they took one tenth of the people who passed by. So there are those who say, the first time taking 1/10 tax is the people of the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam. Wallahu a'lam bishawab But essentially, the behavior is similar. And Ibn Kathir Rahimahullah said It could be interpreted in three ways. Between the people of the Prophet Lut and the people of the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam, similar to three things First, the area is not so far away. Secondly, the era is not so far away. The third behavior is not too much different. then the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam reminded, "Be careful of you." "You could be exposed to adzab." As adzab that happened to the people of the Prophet Lut 'Alaihissalam. Right. The Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam this, in general they have three evils, the first to shirk Allah the foremost, shirk to Allah. Secondly, they did the scales reduction. When they're selling goods, the scales are reduced. So they like to do that. Reducing scales, reducing dosing This is the work of the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam. The third is that they take taxes. There are people passing by in their village, they cannot pass unless they pay 10%. Without reciprocity. Different if for example we go to the car park at the airport, we are charged parking fees. This airport does not stand alone, all use fees. Fees for getting up to the airport, costs for maintenance, then there is money for parking, reasonable. There are boats stopping at the port, paying taxes. In order to tax, there must be muqobil, there must be a service provided to the ship. Then this tax is not intended. The meaning of mucus is to take taxes without any reciprocity. Just passing it by asking to pay. This is Allah's land, not yours. Then people pass 10%. The Prophet said, the tax collector who was going to hell, which was agreed upon by the scholars was a tax puller like this. Who attracts taxes without any service at all. There is no reciprocity. So this is what the Prophet Alaihi wa sallam said will be in hell. The people that practice it (collect tax illegally) is the people of the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam. They said they committed three evils, shirked Allah, reduced scales and doses, the third is to draw taxes from people passing by in their village. So when they were getting worse, Allah sent the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam to preach to them. The story of the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam mentioned by Allah in several surah. Among them are surat Al-A'raf, surat Hud, kemudian surat Ash-Shu'ara and Surah Al-Ankabut . Most are mentioned in Al-A'raf and Hud. As for the shirk that they did, they worshiped a tree. The name was Aikah. The name was Al-Aikah. So Allah says in the Surah of Ash-Syu'ara Surely the worshipers of Al-Aikah belied the messengers. When the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam said to them, aren't you cautious? Ash-Shu'ara '26:177 This is what they worship turns out to be a tree, a shady tree worshiped by the residents of Madyan. So that some mufasirun, consider that the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam was sent to two people. Madyan and the Aikah. In Surat Al-A'raf, Allah said And we sent to Madyan their brother, Syuaib. But Allah mentioned in Surah Al-Shua'ra Actually, ashhab, that is, who lives in Aikah. They thought Aikah was the name of the place. Have denied the messengers. "When Syuaib." Allah does not say "When their brother Syuaib said to them, fear." Whereas in the Surah of Al-A'raf Allah said, "We sent to Madyan their brother, one tribe with them, Syuaib." When Allah spoke of Aikah, Allah did not say "their brother." Means Aikah is one thing, Madyan is another. The two places that the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam sent to his people. Namely the Madyans, and the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam were also sent to other villages, named Aikah. This is the opinion of some mufasirun. But what was said by ibn Kathir rahimahullah, They (Aikah) are ashabul Madyan. Aikah is not a place name. Aikah is the name of the idol they worship, in the form of a tree. When Allah speaks of Madyan, Allah calls "their brother, Syuaib." But when Allah spoke of Aikah, Allah did not say, "their brother Syuaib" because Allah spoke of their shirk. Surely the Aikah worshipers belied the messengers. "When ..." Allah does not say "their brother Syuaib." Because if it is mentioned, as if Syuaib also worshiped the idol. So when Allah mentions the aqeedah, the brotherhood breaks up. There is no brotherhood. Syuaib and the Aikah worshipers, even though they came from one tribe, one nation. But if you have talked about aqeedah, then Syuaib has no brotherhood with his village. But when Allah spoke about the Madyan village. Syuaib is their brother. Understand until here? So Ashabul Aikah and Ashabul Madyan are the same. Sometimes Allah talks about their tribe, Madyan. Sometimes Allah talks about their shirk of worshiping Aikah. That is, we too, we are Indonesians We are one of nationality. We are brother from that we are Indonesians. But if you speak religion, then you don't. There is no ukhuwah fii ad-in. There is no unity in religion. We are different Christians different, Hindus different, Buddhist different. We may not say "We are from the same religion." Should not. We only say we are brother of one nationality. But in religion there is no brotherhood. Brotherhood, everything is broken. As Syuaib was cut off from them when he talked about the aqeedah. We continue. Please open Surah Al-A'raf, verse 85. Allah said subhanahu wa ta'ala, And to the people of Madyan, we send their brother, Syuaib. Syuaib is mentioned by some salaf with the title Khotibul Anbiya. That is the expert of the sermon of the Prophets. That is, he speaks very fluently. He is good at talking. If he speaks, it's very fluent. So it was given the title of Khotibul Anbiya. So he is good at speaking. Allah said, وَإِلَىٰ مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْبًاۗ "We sent to Madyan, their brother Syuaib." The first thing that the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam preached was tauhid. "O my people, worship Allah alone. There is no worship but Allah for you." Worship Allah alone. And all Prophet were like that. وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِى كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَّسُولًا أَنِ اعْبُدُوا۟ اللَّهَ وَاجْتَنِبُوا۟ الطَّٰغُوتَۖ "We have sent for every people, a messenger, each messenger said, "Worship Allah, and stay away from worship other than Allah." So the concentration of all of the prophets' da'wah were all about tauhid. After the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam concentration is about tauhid, then between the methods of the prophets, they also preach the disobedience being spread at that time. They also concerned with the issue. Tawhid remains the main. But it did not neglect the immorality that were being spread at the time. And the immoratily that is being spread at that time is, reducing the scales. reduce the dose. Therefore the scholars say, "Reducing the scales is a big sin." Great sin. Reducing scales is a big sin. Threatened with hell. Especially when it comes to dealing with other people. So Allah says in Surah Al-Muthofifin وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ "Woe to those who do thatfif." That is to reduce the dose a little. So it's not very visible. It must be ten kilos, he gave 9.8 kilos. Reduced a little. The buyer may not know. But Allah is omniscient. and Allah says "Woe!" Woe to people who do scales reduction or dose reduction. For example, one liter, he only gives 0.9 liter. Minus 0.1 liter. This is called thatfif. This, although a little reduced, is a big sin. Great sin. So to the extent that there is a diazab because this is among them. True they did shirk. But that caused them to be punished immediately, besides they were doing shirk, they also reduced the scales. They also reduce scales. Therefore, be careful if you're interacting. Especially with other people. This sin from the interaction with others is dangerous. Many great sins from the interactions with others. For example usury, reducing scales. This is from interacting with other people. So they did thatfif. Reducing doses and scales. So, what to be preached firstly was tauhid. اعْبُدُوا۟ اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ Worship Allah and do not worship other than Allah. قَدْ جَآءَتْكُم بَيِّنَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْۖ A clear evidence has come from your Rabb. Only then did Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam say, " فَأَوْفُوا۟ الْكَيْلَ وَالْمِيزَانَ Then complete the measure and scales. Al-Kail is a volume (dose). One liter, two liters. Al-Mizan, one kilo, two kilos. So there are two. Al-Kail wa Al-Mizan. Al-Kail is a measure (volume) and Al-Mizan is weight. And don't reduce people's rights. Not stated clearly, what rights they reduce. What is clear is that they reduce scales, doses, and they reduce the rights of others. They molested other people. And don't make damages. Among them they collect taxes from passersby. Passers are taxed 10%. Without pretext. There is no reason why they should tax them. This is better for you, if you believe. So if they do all this, they fulfill the scales, fulfill the measure, they don't molest people, they don't do damage, so this is better for them if they believe. That is, they believe first and then can be accepted as a reward. If they still do shirk, while they do these virtues, they are not worth merit. Not worth the reward. I want to share it with you. This verse. I give an illustration. Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam pleaded with them so that tauhid. Correct or not? Apart from preaching them about tawhid. Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam forbade them to engage in mockery. You can't do this, you can't do that. If you weigh, it must be full. Etc. Suppose they did the scales in full but they still did shirk. They will get reward or not? Not. Because they are still shirk. So the conditions, you have to believe, then you'll get reward. This incident shows (this verse shows), the unbelievers were also ordered to do the Shari'a. The Shari'a of the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam is to fulfill the scales. So if they reduce the scale, their sin increases. Even if they fulfill the scales do not get reward because they do not believe. But if they reduce the scale, the more sins they have. Where do I want to take it? I want to bring it to you Is the law of a Muslim, during the day (the month of Ramadan), opening a restaurant, to be sold to infidels? Unbelievers don't fast? Fasting or not? Not. Can we sell food for them? The answer is no. Even though they are infidels, they are still subject to the Shari'a law of the Prophet Muhammad, Alaihi wa sallam you should fast. Do you understand the counterpart? I repeat. Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam has Shari'a. The Shari'a must not do shirk, and must fulfill the scales. When the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam preached to his people, he did not just order tawhid but he immediately connected. "You must be monotheistic and you must fulfill the scale of the scales." Even if they fulfill the scale of the scales, they cannot be rewarded (unless he is betauhid). Understand? but they must join the Shari'a 'Alaihissalam Shari'a. We are now here, what applies is the Shari'a of the Prophet Muhammad sallAllahu aih alaihi wa sallam. Shari'a of the Prophet sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam must have tawhed and must fast. Must pray and so on. Now if there are infidels fasting, can they be rewarded or not? No. But if they do not fast, their sins accumulate more and more. From there we Muslims should not sell food to them, because we help them break the fast. Understand or not? Do you want to repeat again? This is the proposition that Muslims cannot sell food to unbelievers during the day. "Infidels are okay about drinking alcohol." Yes we can just sold alcohol." No! Should not. Our Shari'a violates. Can't we help them drink what? Alcohol. Should not. Even though they are permitted in the Shari'a. Because they have to follow the Shari'a of the Prophet Muhammad sallAllahu aih alaihi wa sallam. As soon as the Prophet sallalla ‘alaihi wa sallam was sent, all other Shari'a mansukh. Expired. What applies is only the Shari'a of the Prophet sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. So the Prophet sallallau aih alaihi wa sallam said اَ يَسْمَعُ بِي أَحَدٌ مِنْ هَذِهِ الأُمَّةِ يُهُودِيٌّ وَلاَ نَصْرَانِيٌّ ثُمَّ يَمُوت يَمِنْ بِالَّذِي أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِ إِلاَّ كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّارِ In saheeh Muslim, said the Prophet sallallahu aih alaihi wa sallam, "Not one of these people, Jews or Christians, let alone other religions, heard about me, then died with no faith in what I brought, except for the inhabitants of Hell, Jahanam. " Said the Prophet sallallahu aih alaihi wa sallam. So, if the term ushul is fiqh, Those who know Arabic only understand. Those who don't know, never mind. That is, the infidels are not only told to have tauhid, they are also required to practice Islamic law. It's just that, when they don't have tauhid yet, if they do it they cannot be rewarded. But if they dont do, their'll be sinned too. Understand? Understand? I was hesitant. Is it because of fasting, because of not understanding ... We continue, said the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam continuing to advise them, وَلَا تَقْعُدُوا۟ بِكُلِّ صِرَٰطٍ تُوعِدُونَ وَتَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ مَنْ ءَامَنَ بِهِۦ وَتَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًاۚ Do not hang out on each road, and frightening and obstructing those who believe. Mentioned by some mufasirun, there are people who want to come to the lecture of the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam. They were block by the Madyans. "Hey!, Don't! Don't!" Obstructed. "Hey, you, don't believe." Mocked وَتَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًاۚ And you want the path of Allah to become crooked. This, said the ulama, is a proposition that the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam was in his own tribe, but there are other tribes who believe. And that is it. Many events like that. People for far area have more faith than the closer people. In the case of the Prophet Muhammad, the Quraysh (the believers) were less than the Anshor. The one who is close to the Prophet sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, even hostile to the Messenger of Allah sallAllahu aih alaihi wa sallam. And so many ulama like that. There is an ulama, his family doesn't believe in him. But people from distant areae are even easier to believe. There was something like that. There was something like that. So, those who believe in the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam may be people from distant villages, want to learn the deen with the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam, obstructed by nearby tribes, his family. Then the word Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam, وَاذْكُرُوٓا۟ إِذْ كُنتُمْ قَلِيلًا فَكَثَّرَكُمْۖ "And remember you, you were still a small group before, then Allah made you many, getting stronger, having children. This is blessings, you should thank Allah. You should worship Allah. " Among the things that spur a person to worship Allah, is by remembering the blessings that Allah gave to him. Therefore, people need to remember the blessings that Allah gave to him, so that he is encouraged to continue to worship Allah, thank Allah, Therefore, the Prophet sallallahu aih alaihi wa sallam prayed until his feet were swollen, even to the point of cracking his legs. In history, swelling, cracking torn up Said the Prophet أَفَلاَ أَكُونُ عَبْدًا شَكُورًا Why don't I become a grateful servant? Among the forms of being grateful for Allah are they do many prayers to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. Then, Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam reminded "You used to be a small group, now a lot, it is a blessing" "Fear Allah so that Allah gives additional blessing." وَانظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ الْمُفْسِدِينَ "And look at the consequences of doing damage." The scholars said, the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam combined between targhib and tarhib. Motivation and warning. Motivate, if you want to have more blessing, be grateful. If you are not cautious, see, there have been many people who have been destroyed, destroyed by Allah because they did damage. Among them, the people of the Prophet Lut 'Alaihissalam. Then, this shows the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam when speaking with theorem, with hujjah, with beautiful words before his people. Then Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam said وَإِن كَانَ طَآئِفَةٌ مِّنكُمْ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِالَّذِىٓ أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِۦ وَطَآئِفَةٌ لَّمْ يُؤْمِنُوا۟ فَاصْبِرُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يَحْكُمَ اللَّهُ بَيْنَنَاۚ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الْحَٰكِمِينَ Until the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam was so gentle, he said "The reality is now, some of you believe, some of you do not believe in Allah. Alright, if indeed you don't want to believe, be patient, wait. How Allah gives us decisions, who is right. As if the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam, so gentle said, "If you do not believe, wait for what will happen!" Even though it is certain that, those who do not believe will be destroyed by Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. But this is said by the scholars, the gentleness of the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam when delivering hujjah so that they think. What are the comments of the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam? قَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ مِن قَوْمِهِۦ "And said the leaders of the people of the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam .." Allah uses the word اسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ from استفعلا اسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ The word استفعلا means to demand, look for, for example استغفرا looking for maghfiroh so, استشهدا looking for martyrdom. so the pattern of the استفعلا means to search in Arabic For example, اسْتَكْبَرُوا۟, seeking pride. So as if Allah said, "They are, indeed they deliberately want to be arrogant." "Want to be proud." So they collected property, they became rulers so that they can be arrrogant There are people like that. Indeed they look for heights above the earth, in various ways By collecting wealth so that it is recognized, reaching for a position is respected for example, to be arrogant then, like that. Indeed, looking for arrogance. Not pride comes by itself. He sought pride. So you can be arrogant. There are people like that. قَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ مِن قَوْمِهِۦ "The proud of his people said." قَوْمِهِۦ لَنُخْرِجَنَّكَ يَٰشُعَيْبُ وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَعَكَ مِن قَرْيَتِنَآ "O Syuaib, we will expel you from our country." "And also your faithful followers, we will expel all of them." And this is something hard for someone, expelled from his village. Therefore, some prophets were tested by being expelled from their people. Like Prophet Ibrahim 'Alaihissalam. إِنِّى مُهَاجِرٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّىٓۖ "One country all captured him, burned him." And no one accompanied Prophet Ibrahim. Finally, he went out and left his people when they could not believe anymore. What did Prophet Ibrahim do? He left his village. Among those who were expelled from their people were Prophet Muhammad sallallahu u alaihi wa sallam. So, Al-'Aini said, Allah tested his prophet Muhammad Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam by parting from his people. From his country. And the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam was threatened thus. If you continue to believe, Syuaib, we will expel you from our village. Likewise, those who believe will be expelled. Or you return to our religion, then we don't drive out. Said the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam أَوَلَوْ كُنَّا كَٰرِهِينَ "Will we be forced?" Forced to leave the village? Forced to enter their religion? Said the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam قَدِ افْتَرَيْنَا عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا إِنْ عُدْنَا فِى مِلَّتِكُم بَعْدَ إِذْ نَجَّىٰنَا اللَّهُ مِنْهَاۚ "Indeed, we have done lies in the name of Allah, if we go back to your religion, after Allah saved us. " Here there is a khilaf (different opinions) among the scholars. Did the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam be as religious as they were? Then Allah saved. So he said قَدِ افْتَرَيْنَا عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا إِنْ عُدْنَا فِى مِلَّتِكُم بَعْدَ إِذْ نَجَّىٰنَا اللَّهُ مِنْهَاۚ "Indeed we have done ... big lie to Allah after us first in your religion, then we are saved by Allah. Then we come back again. So the mufasirun, interpreters, discussed this issue. Did the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam have had time to worship idols, then be able to pray, so the people say that if you want to stay, come back as before. Return to our religion. Some scholars say, "Yes. Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihiss first worshiped idols, then realized. so he doesn't want to come back again. " And most scholars say, "No, Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam does not speak on his behalf. But he talked about some of his followers. It is true, his people who had believed in him first used to be an idol worshiper. So he said by using dhommir Nahnu, us. Indeed, we have lied in the name of Allah if we return to Shirk, after Allah saved us. That is, the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam spoke on behalf of his followers who were once polytheists like them. The Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam has never done shirk at all. and so the anbiya, they never did shirk at all. Like Prophet Ibrahim, Allah said Never shirk at all. Prophet Muhammad sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam in the era of ignorance also never did shirk at all. Prophet Moses before becoming a Prophet, never shirked at all. So, the anbiya, they never shirked at all. Therefore, wallahu a'lam bishawab, the stronger opinion is that the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam is speaking on behalf of his faithful people. In the past they had done shirk, then Allah saved them. And it is appropriate for us to return to that religion. Unless Allah wants. وَسِعَ رَبُّنَا كُلَّ شَىْءٍ عِلْمًاۚ Surely our Rabb knowledge includes everything. Threatened. Said the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam "We put our trust in." We put our trust in. Our Lord, give a decision between us and our people. With the just, and you are the best decision maker. Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam when threatened, he just "Yes, what do you want, we put our trust in Allah." They don't accept my da'wah, give us a decision. We only rely on You, O Allah. Then, these Madyan leaders, besides provoking the prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam and his people, they also provoked those who did not believe. They said, وَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن قَوْمِهِۦ لَئِنِ اتَّبَعْتُمْ شُعَيْبًا إِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّخَٰسِرُونَ "You who have not believed carefully, do not believe in Syuaib, if you join Syuaib, you really in great loss. You'll be in great loss. You'll lose your money, your wealth. Don't join Syuaib. Allah said فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ فِى دَارِهِمْ جَٰثِمِينَ Then they were punished with rojfah. Rojfah was zilzal, a great earthquake. Then they fell down, died in Jatsimin condition. That is that is leaning on their knees, while their heads are like people are prostrate themselves. Namely their heads fell, on their feet. While he rests on what? Feet. His head fell and his feet. So in kneeling condition. When they died, they were punished by the earthquake. Allah said الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ شُعَيْبًا كَأَن لَّمْ يَغْنَوْا۟ فِيهَاۚ Those who deny Syuaib are as if they have never been on the face of the earth. This means that they immediately perish. So fast. الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ شُعَيْبًا كَانُوا۟ هُمُ الْخَٰسِرِينَ Those who make like against the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam, they are the losers. They used to say, "Don't join Syuaib, then you will lose." Allah said, "Indeed, those who lost. Those who did not join the teachings of the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam." Allah says فَتَوَلَّىٰ عَنْهُمْ Then the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam also left his people who had perished. And say to them يَٰقَوْمِ لَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُمْ رِسَٰلَٰتِ رَبِّى O my people, I have conveyed to you the treatises (messages) from my Rabb. وَنَصَحْتُ لَكُمْۖ And I have advised you. فَكَيْفَ ءَاسَىٰ عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ كَٰفِرِينَ Why should I be sad with unbelievers. Some scholars, if someone turns out his relatives are hostile to Allah, hostile to the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, rebel, then he dies, no need to be sad. No need to be sad. As the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam, he said, فَكَيْفَ ءَاسَىٰ عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ كَٰفِرِينَ Why am I sad with unbelievers? I have conveyed da'wah, it has been delivered, but it turns out they are hostile to Allah, hostile to his prophet then I don't need to be sad with you. Thus said the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam. Right. That is in Surah Al-A'raf. We go on in Hud. See Surah Hud verse 84. Not much different, said Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala وَإِلَىٰ مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْبًاۚ We sent to the inhabitants of the land of Madyan, their brother, Syuaib. Allah sent from their tribe, so that they were easy to accept. Because as human, we know if the messenger comes from another tribe, it's hard to be acceptep, we become arrogant But the messenger are from their tribe, they know well who is Syuaib, They should accept it. Syuaib is a good person, from the beginning never been naughty. It should be easy to accept. Then Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam said قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا۟ اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥۖ Yes my people, worship Allah alone. Do not do shirk. وَلَا تَنقُصُوا۟ الْمِكْيَالَ And don't reduce the dosage and don't reduce the scale. إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰكُم بِخَيْرٍ I see you are in good condition, in a condition of possessions. What are you doing? You are already rich. What are you doing damage? وَإِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ مُّحِيطٍ And I'm afraid you will be punished with destructive punishment. Which covers you. The word مُّحِيطٍ means cover you. You can't run away from the adzab. وَيَٰقَوْمِ أَوْفُوا۟ الْمِكْيَالَ وَالْمِيزَانَ O my people, complete the measure and complete the scales. بِالْقِسْطِۖ Allah blessings with justice. وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا۟ النَّاسَ أَشْيَآءَهُمْ and don't you molest people. You don't fulfill their rights. وَلَا تَعْثَوْا۟ فِى الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ do not you do damage on the face of the earth. draw taxes from passers-by, nobody passes through your village unless you withdraw 10% tax. Then the Prophet said بَقِيَّتُ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَۚ know, well, the rest of the profits from Allah are better than what you do wrong. وَمَآ أَنَا۠ عَلَيْكُم بِحَفِيظٍ and I am not your guardian. That is to say, the Prophet Syuaib said, you are selling, trading, indeed trading profitably, You honestly have been profitable. You don't need to reduce the scales, reduce the dosage so that you gain more. Sufficient profit that you get with honesty. That is the benefit of Allah, which Allah gave The benefits that you get from honesty are better than many benefits but are not blessed by Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. Not the same between bad and good. Even though it's a lot bad. So the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam taught them, little but blessed by Allah, this is a blessing. Rather than many, Allah is not blessed, so there is no blessing. In the hadith, said the Prophet sallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, about two people who made transactions, said the Prophet sallallahu‘ alaihi wa sallam (hadith) If these two of them turned out to be honest and explained the lack of goods, their disgrace, Allah gives blessings to their transactions. if it turns out they are both lying, and hiding the disgrace of goods, it (the blessings) will be revoked from their transaction. How many people have a lot of wealth but no blessing. It's serious. There is no blessing. He doesn't feel happiness. How many people have wealth but as if he is poor. He is still greedy, he still needs to, worried ... Even though his wealth is already a lot. Why? No blessing. How many people have property, just don't know where to go. I often meet people, not one two people, "I used to work, my money was a lot but not a blessing, I didn't know where my money was now." Just gone. For disobidiance, travelling, for whatever, various ... then it runs out Sometimes it runs out because maybe someone is sick, or their child is ill, just like that. No blessing. Even if the property is large but there is no blessing ... He is greedy and greedy and greedy Therefore, someone tries even though kholil although a little, but it has blessing, it's better said Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam بَقِيَّتُ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَۚ the lawful profit that Allah has given you, if you believe. وَمَآ أَنَا۠ عَلَيْكُم بِحَفِيظٍ and I can't be your guard. Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam said, "I can't take care of you." If you are honest, who sees Allah is not me, said Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam. This is your business with Allah. You sell the goods of the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam can not see, so the Prophet Syuaib' Alaihissalam said, "I do not watch you." Who supervises who? Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. And this I remind the brothers and sisters, if we for example do good and leave disobedience, then not because of humans, but because of Allah. This is the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam inviting them to emigrate huh. You emigrated from a handyman to reduce the dose, honest, but you are honest I'm not watching, who's watching who? Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala Some people might leave him immorality, he left fun, not because of Allah but because of friends, because it doesn't feel good to friends, what do people say, it's not! A time leaves immorality, because of Allah. He emigrated because of? Allah. Not so that people know that I have emigrated. Not to be known by Ustadz. Not. But because of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. After the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam advised them, what did they say? قَالُوا۟ يَٰشُعَيْبُ أَصَلَوٰتُكَ تَأْمُرُكَ أَن نَّتْرُكَ مَا يَعْبُدُ ءَابَآؤُنَآ أَوْ أَن نَّفْعَلَ فِىٓ أَمْوَٰلِنَا مَا نَشَٰٓؤُا۟ۖ إِنَّكَ لَأَنتَ الْحَلِيمُ الرَّشِيدُ By the way, this is it. They mocked Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam. O Syuaib, is your prayer the one who told us not to worship idols, as our ancestors did, Is that your prayer forbidding us to arrange our property, must do this, when selling must be honest, Your prayer forbid? In our opinion, you are a very intelligent person, and a person who is very wise is understanding. You are the forbearing, the discerning. The scholars said, they were mocking the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam but with subtle language. It was as if they said, "Uh, you have too many prayers, so you are happy." It means. But they express it with the language that is joking. "Did your prayer forbid us from worshiping idols? as our ancestors? Your prayers tell us to leave the traditions of our ancestors? We want to find treasure, as we like. Do you want to ban us? So smart you are O Syuaib. That is to say, your prayers make you too stupid. The point is that. So they mocked the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam. Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam realized he was ridiculed. But he is patient, he says, O my people, what do you think, if I am above the clear evidence, from my Rabb and Allah has given me blessings, with good rizqi. That is halal sustenance or called Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam get prophethood and treatise. Or he works with halal sustenance. Not like you. And I don't want to sneak around, what I have told you. I forbid you, I forbid you to do the scales. I don't want to do what I forbid. And this said the scholars, is a verse that is very important to be considered by the preacher. Don't let us ban something, and we do it. We forbid something, we do it ourselves. Just like the word of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala This is Allah telling the people of the Children of Israel. Their preacher, they are like that. You tell people to do good, while you don't do it yourself. (2:44) Even though you read Torah. Are you not using your thinking? Likewise the word of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala (61:3) "Why do you say what you don't do, it's really great Allah's wrath on those who say that they don't do." As-Saf 61:2-3 A poet said, "Do you forbid from a temperament, while you do it yourself?" "What a great shame to you, if you do it. You forbid, but you do it." So Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam said, how do I forbid you then I do. Impossible. Said the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam. So a preacher should try be like this. If he has forbidden something, he have a will, not to do it. If it turns out he is breaking. He repents to Allah. But not then he forbids but he is doing. Do not. He tried to leave what he banned. If one day he falls, controlled by his desires, he immediately repents Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. Said the Prophet sallAllahu aih alaihi wa sallam, "brought by a man, then thrown in Hell Hell. Then came the intestines. The intestine sprays out. Intestine comes out. then he is turned in circle using the intestine, as donkey rotates in the grinder. Played around. فَيَجْتَمِعُ أَهْلُ النَّارِ So the inhabitants of Hell blasted, met him, they knew this Fulan. He was a preacher. Known to them. His followers came. Lhoh, how come you can be here. He said. Didn't you tell us to do good deeds, forbid us in immorality. How come we can come here. Hell residents on this gathering. He said, "Right, I told you to do good deeds, but I didn't do it. And I forbid you from doing anything, and I did. So, be careful, even those who like to share carefully. This share, share this, share this, and you don't do it. Even though you have to leave, you have to intend, "I'll do it." When you forbade something, "This is forbidden." You share. You try to make the intention, you're also doing dawah by sharing it. You intend to do it. If only one day falls, you will repent to Allah. Not to say that you shouldn't be make any mistake. If that's the case, then only the prophets can preach. If someone who preaches must do everything he calls for and all that he is forbidden to leave, then no one can preach. Who doesn't have it wrong? People must have got it wrong. But he has the intention to do it when he tell others. And he was determined that he would forbid, he would leave it. As for one day he could not do, he repented to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. Then the words of the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam, very beautiful words My goal is to find the best I can. وَمَا تَوْفِيقِىٓ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِۚ and I can't do it, execpt by help from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala A salaf said, If I have the intention to do something, I say this, إِنْ أُرِيدُ إِلَّا الْإِصْلَٰحَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُۚ وَمَا تَوْفِيقِىٓ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِۚ O Allah, actually I want kindness. I will do everything I can, and I can't do it except with your permission. So if he said that, he was enthusiastic and usually succeeded. Therefore, these words of Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam he said, "I try my best, but as far as I can, no one can give me a hint, which can make it easier for me, except Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ to him I put my trust and to him I returned. Then Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam said وَيَٰقَوْمِ لَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شِقَاقِىٓ أَن يُصِيبَكُم مِّثْلُ مَآ أَصَابَ قَوْمَ نُوحٍ أَوْ قَوْمَ هُودٍ أَوْ قَوْمَ صَٰلِحٍۚ وَمَا قَوْمُ لُوطٍ مِّنكُم بِبَعِيدٍ O my people, just because you hate me, do not let yourself carried away, hit by disaster. You kufr, finally hit by disaster, as a calamity that befell the people of Noah, as a calamity that befell the people of Prophet Hud, as the calamity that befell the people of the Prophet Sholeh, and as calamity that befell the people of the Prophet Lut and his tribe Lut is not far from you. And the people of Lut are not far from you. This is the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam reminded, "Be careful, you may hate me, but do not kufr. If you are kufr be careful ..." And Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam love them, this is his people. Then Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam said وَاسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ ثُمَّ تُوبُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِۚ "Fight to your Rabb, and repent to your Rabb." What is the difference between istighfar and repentance? Istigfar. Istighfar's peak is repentance. Istighfar peak is repentance. Istigfar is begging to be forgiven. He could be a berigigar, while he still did the immorality. But he makes istighfar, but he still committed the sin. If repentance, it means he has left the sin. Therefore, what is the peak of istighfar? Repentance. So Allah says, make istighfar, then repent. If it's gradual. Ask forgiveness, then leave it entirely. If you can't leave directly, then gradually leave the whole. إِنَّ رَبِّى رَحِيمٌ وَدُودٌ Pay attention here. Said the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam "Surely my Rabb, Rahim, The Extremely Merciful, Wadud, The Extremely Loving." To you, if you repent. There are people, mercy. What is mercy? Such a pity feeling. But not necessarily love. Example. We see someone might be hurt on the road. We don't love him. But we pity him. This is mercy. But if mercy is built on top of love, this is extraordinary. We have mercy on him because we love him, Like children, like a wife Children, wife-wife, We love, built because we love him. Well, Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam said, "If you repent after committing, after shirk, after deceiving people, after reducing the dose, you repent, Allah will be merciful on you and love you. So there are those who say, if people have done immorality then they won't to be loved by Allah anymore, that is not true. It could be that those people, if then they returns, Allah loves them, and Allah combines Rahim and Wadud, Allah give mercy and Allah loves. In another verse Allah is Forgiving and Loving. So the wrong doing people, if he returns to Allah, he can regain Allah's love for him With the condition that he repents to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. Some people, "Yes, I'm sorry. But already. I don't love you anymore." Is that happen? Yes "Ustadh, I am wrong ustadh, my wife does not love me anymore. I have apologized." "Forgiven but not loved anymore." Some were crying, "Ustadz, I did mistake Ustadz. Big mistakes." Crying on the phone. I don't know what was wrong, I also didn't ask. They said Pay attention! The people of Madyan won't listen. Already mocking Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam, "You're stupid." But the words used, "You are very clever." Even though he meant "You're really very stupid." قَالُوا۟ يَٰشُعَيْبُ مَا نَفْقَهُ كَثِيرًا مِّمَّا تَقُولُ "O Syuaib, we don't really understand what you say." They understand clearly, Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam explain at length. Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam is an anbiya sermon. Sermon expert. Clever to say, good at expressing. So many propositions. Use their language, Arabic. They also said ... "We don't really know what you mean." Not not understand. Don't want to understand. And according to us, you are weak O Syuaib. In fact, they are now threatening again. If not for your relatives, we have stoned you, O Syuaib. You have no value in front of us, O Syuaib. You want us to stoned. We want to expel you. But there is your family, so we are not comfortable with your family. You really are weak. Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam denied them. O my people, is my family more respectful to you than Allah? Whereas Allah throws you back, you don't look, you're just afraid of my family? You should be afraid of Allah, not my family. Said the Prophet Syuaib 'Alaihissalam
