Recently, a video on the burning of
tauhid flag by an association gets viral.
What is your opinion on this matter?
I saw the video a friend sent me
on this burning.
I received the video last Tuesday.
When did this take place?
Sunday?
I saw it on Tuesday,
and it is really saddening.
In that video, there was a flag
with لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله on it.
This flag was held.
Then, it was burnt,
and people were making a circle.
They were singing a certain song.
And they said, "Bring the Indonesian flag."
And the Indonesian flag was turned around above the tauhid
flag.
It gave the impression that Indonesian flag
is up, and tauhid flag is disposed.
They said that they meant
to sanctify لا إله إلا الله .
Because it fell down.
If you want to sanctify it...
...take it, put it up again.
If you really want to sanctify it.
Or put it somewhere else safely.
If you want to sanctify it.
But if you put it up and burn it,
and put up the Indonesian flag...
... it is as if you're saying that
nationalism is the opposite of Islam.
That is the impression we get
from the video.
That is what we saw
and made Muslims angry.
Muslims were angry.
We are not accusing that our brothers...
... are anti-لا إله إلا الله.
Of course not.
They have other intentions.
But, I am saying...
That view is really bad.
It is bad and ugly.
As if the tauhid has to fall.
And the red and white flag
has to go up.
As if nationalism cannot go
side by side with Islam.
And we've learnt that Indonesia
became a country thanks to "takbir".
The Muslim heroes saved Indonesia
with Takbir.
There is no contradiction
between nationalism and Islam.
On the contrary, Indonesia got
its independence ...
... with the struggle of its heroes
whose majority were Muslims.
Mostly were Muslims.
And they won with takbir.
They chased away the colonizers
who were non-Muslims.
If we see it legally...
Perhaps, they wanted to criticize
a certain group of people.
This group has this as symbol.
If there is a group of people
that we consider that they are mistaken...
Because there are people who use this flag
with a wrong purpose.
For example, ISIS.
ISIS uses this flag also.
It does not mean that those who use
this flag defend the truth.
Even if there is another group of people
that we consider unlawful...
...that we criticize,
so criticize the group.
Rather than destroying the Islamic symbol.
For example...
There is a woman with niqab
taking a bomb with her.
Do we insult niqab and hijab?
Do we burn hijab in front of people?
Of course we don't do that.
Islamic symbols shall not be dropped.
It is the person who commits mistake
not the hijab.
If for example there is someone...
...commits terrorism...
...spread bombs everywhere,
but he goes to a mosque.
Don't insult other people
who go to mosques.
Because mosque is a symbol of Islam.
However it is, we may not insult
the flag, or make it fall down like that.
Because on this flag, it is written
لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله
It is the highest thing in our life.
It is the most valuable thing
in our life.
How could we burn it like that?
Hopefully Allah will give them
His guidance.
