Kind: captions Language: en hey Dr will Lee here I am at a uh Chinese restaurant and I want to actually show you what I um choosing today from the mediterran the Asian side of mediterran uh food and talk you about what is actually helpful about what I've chosen most of you are interested so the first thing I actually have is here a bowl of hot and sour soup pretty common uh offering in a Chinese restaurant and I want to talk to you about what's in it and why I chose it first of all it's a nice warming uh bowl of soup but you might be surprised to know that what's inside it are sliced soft tofu which actually has genine genine um helps to right siize your circulation it also um helps activate your metabolism so um that's also good and of course uh tofu soy products have been shown to lower the risk of breast cancer uh and uh also have this anti-angiogenic cancer starving effect the other thing in hot and sour soup um let's see you can see some of the black strips here um or dark strips here that's woodier mushroom woodier mushroom is kind of a delicacy I have a bigger plate of it here's an appetizer um show you right here all right these are woodier mushrooms really delicious it's kind of a it's not really a mushroom it's a fungus um and it's a it's a great uh little appetizer but when it's in the soup it actually adds to the flavor of the soup now what's in a wood your mushroom is really amazing there's natural antimicrobial properties um it's been shown in the lab to kill staff arus and ecoli right you guys have probably heard of both of those bacteria they're the ones that we actually don't want to be infected by so another healing property of sweet and sour soup the other thing that's in sweet and sour soup look at the green bits that's cilantro cilantro also has bacterial killing properties another healing property and then look a little bit of chili oil here chili oil has capsacin capsacin activates your taste buds and it actually um uh can send a signal to your brain that releases neurotransmitters and activates your brown fat to undergo thermogenesis so it actually lights your body up uh to be able to have your good fat burn down harmful bad fat and then what's the that result of that you actually have an improved metabolism so here is a great example of how a classic soup that you can find in a a Chinese restaurant actually is good for you so um also vinegar by the way there's vinegar in here vinegar is heic acid prevents your fat cells from expanding uh so it slows down uh the growth of fat uh let's see do I need to actually put any other good properties well the best property is that it tastes [Music] great I encourage you guys to give it a shot job you want to learn more about how to eat to beat disease it's not too late to sign up to my uh online course uh links in the bio check it out uh I'm doing some really cool stuff for the fall in my class talking about fall Foods as we kind of move past the summer into the fall how do we actually strengthen our health so I hope to see you in the course Dr Le out now
