Kind: captions Language: en hey there Dr will Lee here I am back with uh some new food is medicine research and uh some demo and uh and this all has to do with metabolism and as you can see I'm here with my new book uh it's actually not technically out yet but if you want to get a copy go to the link in my bio and sign up for my metabolism master class I'll actually give you a copy of the book for free but uh the uh uh the um book is all about metabolism and I'm actually here doing some research because one of the seasonal fruits is Kaki or persimmon this is actually the fuyu persimmon I don't know how many of you guys have had one but they're actually um beautiful actually they kind of look like tomatoes a little firm and they grow in trees um a uh I got this actually from somebody who grows them and uh and I was doing some research and I wondered what was in fuyu Persimmons and it could be could it be healthy so let me just show you how food is medicine research has actually done so first of all I went started to look in the research this is a paper on the chemistry and functionality of bioactive compounds in the persimmon what I found is that there's actually beta cryptosanthin there's lycopene there's a zeaxanthin and lutein these all protect um your vision as you age and cryptosanthin and lycopene starve cancers it's the same thing that are present in tomatoes and not surprisingly this thing that looks like a tomato also when you cut it open it's got this nice orange Hue inside that actually is a sign of carotenoids like beta-cryptosanthin and lycopene now what's also interesting is uh the uh I looked at inside uh there's another paper talking about Persimmons and what's inside it and it turns out that what's inside persimmon this uh the the bioactives actually increase your not your body's nitric oxide bioavailability now for those of you who read my book eat to be disease you'll know that nitric oxide which was uh the subject uh that won a Nobel Prize actually uh by my friend Louis ignara by the way who's got an extra excellent book about it called Dr no you should see it uh read it but anyway Persimmons actually have these bioactives that improve nitric oxide bioavailability and which helps your circulation helps your blood vessels dilate and nitric oxide helps recruit stem cells that can actually help your body regenerate from the inside out let's go have a bite mmm it's a bit crunchy pretty juicy not too sweet but absolutely delicious I really like it now I'm studying metabolism here's the paper that shows a bit of cryptosanthin induces ucp1 expression in adipose tissue let me translate that for you what's in here what's in this persimmon the beta kryptozanthin activates a cellular pathway in brown fat that burns down harmful white fat it turns on your metabolism and increases your metabolism that's what this baby does all right um totally cool totally great if you want to learn more about Foods metabolism the real science of what we're learning about metabolism and how to eat to beat disease and how to eat to beat your diet eating to beat your diet means that you don't have to go on a diet in order to be healthy it's kind of the idea of anti-diet um please sign up go to the link in my bio sign up for my newsletter sign up for metabolism masterclass and again if you take my metabolism mini course I will gift you a free book as soon as it comes out in March you'll be number one on the list I will send it to you all right so it's the only way right now that you can actually put your dips on on a this new book eat to be your diet and so I just wanted to show you I can actually Walk The Walk as I talk to talk Dr will Lee out
