My fellow Muslim blessed by Allah SWT
We continue our discussion
Now we've come to Al Insyiqaq
Al Insyiqaq is one of three series
of Surah that the Prophet ﷺ said
<i>Whoever wishes to see
the Day of Resurrection,</i>
<i>as if he is seeing it with this eye,</i>
<i>then let him recite At Takwir</i>
<i>and 'When the heaven is cleft asunder
and 'When the heaven is split asunder.</i>
This is the 3rd Surah that explains
about the enormity of the Day of Judgment
Allah starts with His revelation
<i>When the sky has split [open]</i>
As we often say
The sky is the biggest creature
Wherever people are,
they can see the sky
Whether they are on North Pole
South Pole
East, West
Because of the vastness of the sky
And the sky that is so sturdy will split
As we explained in the previous session
The first order is
Infithar
Then Insyiqaq
Then it weakens
After that Al-Qashtu. then it is folded
So Allah SWT says
<i>When the sky is split with perfect cleavage</i>
Al Infithar is the beginning
Al Insyiqaq, the sky is really split
And the sky has responded to its Lord
And was obligated [to do so]
أَذِنَتْ in Arabic has two meanings
It can be to listen or to obey
For example to listen
As the Prophet ﷺ said
Which means
<i>Allah does not listen to a prophet</i>
<i>as He listens to a prophet
who recites the Qur'an</i>
Here it does not mean to allow
but it means to listen
And here أَذِنَ can also mean to obey
As used in this verse
Or both, the sky listens
to the command of its Lord
And the sky obeys it
وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا means
It obeyed and listened to
the commands of his Lord
وَحُقَّتْ and it is proper and obligatory
for it to obey the commands of his Lord
And the sky is always obedient
to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
Since the beginning of his creation
it has obeyed Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
As in Surah Fushilat
That we heard
<i>Then He directed Himself
to the heaven while it was still as smoke</i>
<i>Allah said to it and to the earth,
Come [into being],</i>
<i>willingly or by compulsion.</i>
<i>Heaven and Earth said,
"We have come willingly."</i>
So, at the beginning of its creation
the sky was obedient
Later when it must be destroyed
it will obey Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala
Initially, it was still smoke that was
made into heaven by Allah, he obeyed Allah
When it must be destroyed
it will obey Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala
The sky that is so majestic, that is so big
When Allah gives orders, it obeys
Allah SWT said:
<i>Indeed, it is obliged to obey</i>
As it obeyed at the beginning,
it will obey at the end
And Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said:
وَاِذَا الْاَرْضُ مُدَّتْۙ
This is the second condition
of the doomsday
When the Earth is flattened
Ibn Taymiyyah said the scholars agree
that the Earth is round
Later on the Day of Judgment,
this round Earth will be flattened
It will be pulled so that
the rounded Earth flattens
Therefore
In a hadith, it is said
When the Day of Judgment arrives, the Earth
will be flattened as a flat leather
You know that when the leather is tanned,
it is flat
It is said like a tanned leather
You want to make it as a bag or a jacket
Put it under the sun, pulled,
and it flattens
It is not bumpy, with no mountains,
no holes
The earth will be like that
To be used as Land of Mahsyar
So,
Where does Land of Mahsyar come from?
Will the Earth that we stand on the Day
of Judgment be the one we are standing on?
There are two opinions among the scholars
The first opinion says
The Earth that we stand on later in
Land of Mahsyar, is it this Earth?
But it will be modified
The Earth will be shaken and its contents
will be later released
Mountain will pulled from its stake,
destroyed, the sea will be dried
Only then it will be flattened
Once flattened, it will be enough
for humans in the entire universe
Once it is flattened,
the sun is lowered
Approximately so
So, that is the Earth
that we are standing on
That we will be standing on
in the Land of Masyhar
This is indicated by the verses
of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
That Day, the Earth will report its news
The experts on interpratation say
The Earth will tell
what has happened
There are people who are righteous
or sinful on the Earth
That shows the Earth is
the Earth we are standing
Because it will be a witness
Therefore the scholars
say why for the Eid prayer
People shall go and return home
using a different path
They said so that there are many witnesses
Because on the Day of Judgment
The Earth will be a witness
That means that the Earth
that we will be standing on
On the Land of Mahsyar will be
the one we are standing
But it will be modified
The second opinion says that
the Earth will be destroyed
Allah will bring the new Earth
<i>The Day the earth will be
replaced by another earth</i>
To be replaced, would it mean a new Earth
or a modified one; there are two opinions
Some say to be replaced is
to be modified
Other say, it will be really
replaced by a new one
Therefore Ibn Masud said
about the Land of Mahsyar
White plain
Like silver
Land where no blood has
ever shed
Where no sin has ever been performed
That is the Land of Mahsyar
As if Ibn Masud said
That the Earth of Land of Mahsyar
is not the Earth we are standing
Because much blood has been shed
on this Earth
Murders, sins
Only Allah knows best
I tend to agree to the first opinion
that says the Earth
For the Land of Mahsyar is this one
with modification
Only Allah knows best You will know too
And Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said:
So, the Land of Mahsyar is flat
Mankind will be resurrected
on the Land of Mahsyar
No sign at all
No pillar, no tree
No dam
All empty
Not hidden among you is anything
concealed on that Day
No one can hide under the tree or
inside a cave
Behind the mountain
as there will be none
You want to hide on the valley?
There will be no valley
Everything will be flat
Where do you want to hide?
No tree, only the Sun of which distance is
one mile; And that is the Land of Mahsyar
And Allah said
<i>And has cast out that within it
and relinquished [it]</i>
So the Earth releases what it contains
Some say that it means all that bodies
are taken out from the ground
They were inside the Earth
and they will be taken out
So, the Earth will be empty from any body
The Earth will be empty from any body
to be used as Land of Mahsyar
Allah said:
And the Earth has responded to its Lord
Allah says <i>Take out what are within you</i>
As the sky obeys, the Earth does too
And it was obliged[to do so]
After that, Allah said
<i>O mankind,</i><i> </i> Indeed you are laboring
with [great] exertion
كَادِحٌ means with [great] exertion
Toward your Lord
And surely you will meet your Lord.
Here يٰٓاَيُّهَا الْاِنْسَانُ <i>O mankind</i>
Usually in Surah Makkiyah,
when Al Insan is used
It is intended for the unbelievers
But the scholars said, for this Surah
When Allah said
O Mankind
It covers everyone,
unbelievers and believers
<i>Indeed you are laboring
with [great] exertion</i>
<i>Toward Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala</i>
With your deeds and your work
Whether you do good or evil
You will go toward Allah
No one stops, all go
All go, Mankind, everyone does
Looking for wealth, worship, position
Trying to be famous, to rob; everyone tries
We all try
But our effort will bring us to Allah;
whatever it is
Whether it is good or evil
All take us to Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala
<i>And certainly you will meet
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala</i>
You will meet Allah
and the result of your effort
No one can go back
When his time of death comes
It means that he is
at the point to see Allah
So please do something
But with something good
Because your action will not
Move you back
Your effort will take you
to Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala
Whosoever can make his effort
into obedience to Allah
It will be best for him
To have fear to Allah is tiring
Praying
We did Tarawih, our legs were
already shaking
It is difficult, the Imam had
to repeat the Surah, it is not easy
Do you think that he went there
and it is just played?
He had to repeat it first
If he is mistaken, he will be reproved
It is not easy, you back there
had a hard time too
Everyone puts an effort, no one relaxes
Preaching is also an effort, being
a good head of the family needs an effort
To be a good father needs an effort
To be a good child needs an effort
To be a devoted child is not easy,
everyone puts an effort
Whether you want to commit sins
or be obedient, you put an effort
Everyone puts an effort
And this effort will take you
to Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala
You will certainly meet
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
It is impossible to step back
So make your effort, your tiredness
For Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala
Then, Allah explains
After mankind puts their effort,
there will be two kinds
One does good, others commit sins
The first one, Allah SWT said:
فَاَمَّا مَنْ اُوْتِيَ كِتٰبَهٗ بِيَمِيْنِهٖۙ
He does good
On the Day of Judgment he will receive
his records from his right hand
<i>Then as for he who is given
his record in his right hand,</i>
<i>He will be judged with an easy account</i>
He will be proud In the Surah Al Haqqah
<i>So as for he who is given his record
in his right hand</i>
<i>he will say, "Here, read my record!</i>
He said هَاۤؤُمُ اقْرَءُوْا كِتٰبِيَهْۚ,
<i>This is my record</i>
My record in the earth
It is all good
He is proud receiving the record
He said هَاۤؤُمُ اقْرَءُوْا كِتٰبِيَهْۚ
<i>Read my record</i> He's proud
It is alright, It is the time to be proud
He has succeeded
He shows to others <i>This is my record</i>
<i>Indeed, I was certain that
I would be meeting my account."</i>
In this Surah, Allah said
<i>He will be judged with an easy account</i>
As in a hadith See page 227
Page 227
Ibn Umar said
I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said
<i>Allah will bring a believer near Him</i>
<i>And Allah will shelter him with His Screen</i>
There will be only him and Allah SWT
فَيَقُولُ and make him confess his faults
<i>Did you commit such-and-such sins?</i>
<i>Did you commit such-and-such sins?</i>
He says نَعَمْ أَيْ رَبِّi
Allah asks <i>Do you know this?</i> <i>He answers,
"Yes, I know"</i>
<i>Until he confesses his sins showed to him</i>
<i>He will think that he is ruined.</i>
But what will Allah say?
<i>I did screen your sins in the world</i>
And so in the afterworld
But Allah reveals them to him
<i>Do you still remember this?</i>
<i>I did screen your sins in the world</i>
<i>I forgive them for you today</i>
So that is حِسَابًا يَّسِيْرًاۙ
He is judged with an easy account
Not everything will be revealed
He will be told until he confesses
but he will be forgiven by Allah SWT
As for حِسَابًا اسِيْرًاۙ
It will be a heavy judgment
called <i>munaqosyah</i>
As Ibn Hajar said
Judgment with no forgiveness
See page 228
Ibn Hajar said
Munaqosyah is detailed judgment
The prosecution of all sins whether they
are big or small without forgiveness
Terrifying
I often say this
Judgment is like an audit
You will be audited
If it is a light audit, you will be forgiven
Heavy audit, detailed audit:
you saw this and that
You watched this YouTube & that one,
you watched religious study but watch other things
Detailed
Munaqasyah is detail
Big and small, nothing is left out
all will be revealed by Allah SWT
Thus, the the Prophet ﷺ said
<i>Whosoever is audited by Allah</i>
<i>He will be tormented</i>
So, we shall invoke Allah <i>Allahumma hasibna
hisaban yasira</i>
Then Allah said
<i>This believer will be judged with an easy
account</i>
<i>And he will return to his people
in happiness.</i>
He'll meet his angel, his wife
in Paradise in happiness
And the second one, people who in the world
They commit sins
Associating Allah, Allah said:
وَاَمَّا مَنْ اُوْتِيَ كِتٰبَهٗ وَرَاۤءَ ظَهْرِهٖۙ
<i>But as for he who is given
his record behind his back,</i>
In another verse
بشماله from his left hand
From behind his back, he will be humiliated
Some say his hand is
translucent here, then
see through and receive his records;
that is a bad sign for him
His book report will be full of sins
<i>He will cry out for destruction</i>
He knows that his report is very bad
إقرا كتابك <i>Read your record</i>
It is all bad
And he will [enter to] burn in a Blaze.
<i>Indeed, he had [once] been
among his people in happiness;</i>
Committing sins
The unbelievers have fun in the world
Spending money
Drinking alcohol, committing adultery,
they don't think of the afterworld
They don't help orphans, nor they help
build mosques or nor they give to charity
They just have fun
Therefore Allah says
They were indeed happy
<i>Indeed, he had [once] been in happiness;</i>
Don't think that the unbelievers
don't have fun
But their happiness is taken away
They seem happy as if this world is theirs
Just having fun
I have a friend working in
an unbelieving country
As a Grab driver
On Saturday nights
He has girls as clients to go to the bar
When they return home,
they are like animals, drunk
Their clothes are messed
They are only happy on Friday,
Saturday and Sunday
Monday is hell, they work again
Saturday and Sunday, they commit
adultery, drink alcohol
Their life is like animals
They just have fun
A couple, the husband have sex
with others, and the wife too
They don't want to marry,
they want only live together
Getting married is a bother
It costs, so they live together
without marriage
They report this is my partner
This is my partner, if they are tired
of their partner, they change
That is what they do
They don't want to have children,
children are a bother
No happiness
But they have fun
That is why Allah say
<i>He had [once] been in happiness;</i>
Indeed, he had thought he would
never return [to Allah ].
He just plays around
He forgets that there will be resurrection
Suddenly, he'll die
But yes! Indeed, his Lord was
ever of him, Seeing.
Indeed, his Lord always sees what he does
Whatever he does will be recorded
by Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
After that, Allah said
So I swear by the twilight glow
الشَّفَقِۙ is
The red color; after the sun sets there is
still this reddish color on the sky
That is الشَّفَقِۙ الاحمر
Red
If it is gone, that means
it is time of Isya
So, Isya, the Prophet ﷺ said
it is during the night
Maghrib is when الشَّفَقِۙ has not gone
Ifالشَّفَقِۙ الاحمر is gone from the sky
That means it is time for Isya
<i>And [by] the night and what it envelops</i>
At night, there are many activities
There is goodness, there are sins
There are those who pray at night
Who commit adultery, robbers wander
Witches wander at night
There are many activities at night
<i>And [by] the night and what it envelops</i>
Night has many secrets
And [by] the moon when it becomes full
<i>[That] you will surely experience
state after state.</i>
What does لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَنْ طَبَقٍۗ mean?
<i>[That] you will surely experience
state after state.</i>
There are many opinions
You will experiences states in this life
From a fetus, then a baby
A toddler, elementary school,
high school, baligh
Start to know girls then
Propose and get rejected
Get married
Have children, etc
And you'll reach 50, 60 years old,
getting older
As if Allah says the final state is death
Meet Allah SWT
These states shall be a lesson for you
That you will never be in the same position
There will be a time when you die
Because you see changes
Small, adult, and die
Other say that طَبَقًا عَنْ طَبَقٍۗ
They are states in the Land of Mahsyar
Resurrected in the Land of Mahsyar
Judged
Weighed (for the deeds and sins)
Sirath
Then Paradise or Hell as we've explained
These are among the interpretations
Some say
It would mean the condition
of the sky that you will see
Starting from Infithar, Insyiqaaq,
and it weakens
And Al qashtu, and folded
These are the different opinions among the
scholars
Then Allah said
<i>So what is with them
they do not believe,</i>
<i>And when the Qur'an is recited to them,
they do not prostrate [to Allah ]?</i>
<i>And when it is said to them,</i>
<i>"Prostrate to the Most Merciful,"
They say, "And what is the Most Merciful?</i>
<i>Should we prostrate
to that which you order us?"</i>
As for the Muslims
When they were asked to prostrate,
they prostrate to Allah
Among Sajdah verses is this verse
Abu Rafi' said
<i>I prayed behind Abu Hurairah
and he recited Al Isyiqaq</i>
At Isya prayer
فَسَجَدَ <i>And he prostrated</i>
فَقُلْتُ مَا هَذِهِ <i>I asked him,
Why did you prostrate?</i>
I prostrated reciting this
behind the Prophet ﷺ
<i>And I will keep on prostrating
every time I hear this verse</i>
<i>Until I meet Muhammad ﷺ</i>
<i>But those who have disbelieved deny,</i>
They deny the Hour
<i>And Allah is most knowing
of what they keep within themselves.</i>
Allah knows what they hide
Lies, associating Allah, hypocricy
<i>So give them tidings
of a painful punishment</i>
This is a mock
<i>Give them tidings</i>
What is the tiding?
بِعَذَابٍ اَلِيْمٍۙ a painful punishment
<i>Except for those who believe
and do righteous deeds</i>
<i>For them is a reward uninterrupted.</i>
Subhanallah, interpretation
from Ibn Katsir, Read page 235
<i>Verily Allah provides blessings
to the dwellers of Paradise</i>
<i>In each condition, in each second,
every time</i>
<i>Verily, they enter Paradise
because of Allah SWT's blessing and love</i>
<i>Not because of their righteous deeds</i>
<i>So, Allah gives them His blessings forever</i>
<i>All praises only to Allah forever</i>
<i>Because the dwellers of Paradise
always praises Allah</i>
<i>They are always told to glorify and praise
Allah</i>
<i>Just as they breath</i>
Therefore, it is said that the dwellers of
Paradise
Verily the dwellers of Paradise
receive revelations
To glorify and praise Allah
as easily as you breathe.
They always praise Allah
Why would they continuously praise Allah?
Because they are always in good condition
There is no one single second they have
unless they receive Allah's favor
Thus Allah said
For them eternal rewards
We hope that Allah puts us in His Paradise
That is our theme
Any question?
If not, Alhamdulillah
